Any good day two WR's out there?

With Stallworth on board the Pats now have a WR depth of Gaffney, Caldwell, Welker, Stallworth and C. Jackson. Granted Jackson may start of the season on IR or the PUP list and I am still hoping that Troy returns for 1 last hurrah. But with these guys on boards I cant see the Pats spending a first day pick on a WR. Any thoughts to some possible steals on the second day?

since we lo ve them so much...how many of hte florida receivers are comming out (hahaha...jk)i beleive caldwell has one more year right?? i just remember them having 3-4 solid guys...

Timely thread in terms of the Kelly Washington signing, there are now four veteran WRs coming to camp who are essentially in one year trial programs: Caldwell, Gaffney, Stallworth, Washington.

Practice Squad eligibility seems to be limited to Childress and Kight. Second day and UDFA signings would seem in order to compete for the Practice Squad and to have a working base of young WRs in 2008 when the Pats may not have the same cap room to splurge.

I would like to see Childress get more reps at Nickelback in passing camp, mini-camp, training camp, and preseason. I wouldn't be surprised to see Kight take some FS reps given the job he did on Special Teams to end the season.

There are two Florida WRs in this draft: Baker and Cornelius, both second day boys as it happens.

Hasn't Bam used up his practice squad eligbility

He's been on it for two years, the ongoing negotiations over the new CBA provisions came out last August with a new Practice Squad standard for players, whose eligibility had been used, that allowed the Pats to keep Billy Yates last season. Bam and Santonio Thomas would appear to be fighting for that slot, though I could see Thomas finally beating out Hill (I thought he played well in preseason) and Bam switching to defense and challenging Gay and Scott for Nickelback duties.

Another thought that I had put aside for future reference is Ryne Robinson form Miami (Ohio). 5-9ish. Runs in the mid to late 4.4's. According to scouts inc/ espn.com he's a good route runner that explodes out of his cuts. 75 catches in '05, 91 in '06, so he has been super productive. Good punt returner as well. Might be worth a flyer in the 6-7th rounds.

From a strictly sentimental point of view I'd love to have David Ball in the late rds! Probably won't happen, but fun thought!

Keep an eye on Laurent Robinson of Illinois State. He ran a 4.33 at the combine.

Strictly on recomendation, never having seen him play, Courtney Taylor.

He was judged the toughest receiver they ever tried to cover, by several of the top DBs in the draft

I like Craig Davis on Day 2. Breaston may be a darkhorse as a return specialist wideout.

Two sleeper picks I like are, Laurent Robinson, Illinois St and Roy Hall, Ohio St. In two years, they could be something special.
