just wondering if hell run to the league and complain about these one year option contracts

He won't care, The Patriots are Finished; remember ?

He may do OK building teams but he says some stupid things - and that was one of them.

Agreed BF. And I hope next year at this time he's choking in his smug, arrogant, condescending, attitude.

Oh, he said that? That is pretty stupid. I wonder what he thinks now after all the moves the Pats have made.

Say what you want about him, but Polian isn't stupid.
Maybe, but I wonder why he let Dominic Rhodes go. Rhodes was part of the reason the Colts won it all, and so many teams have shown the wisdom of a two-RB offense.

I think it was a tactical mistake not to keep him. I also wonder about letting both starting CBs leave. Nick Harper was pretty good, wasn't he?

Cato June I always thought was more hype that substance. I doubt he'll be missed, and Mike Doss is no loss, but letting Harper and Rhodes go may be a mistake, and maybe David, too.

Guys, what did Polian say about the Pats being finished? Give me the lowdown.

As for Rhodes, the Colts aren't going to pay $3.5M a year to their second best RB. That would be ridiculous. Addai got just about every key carry during the season, and Rhodes was the change of pace runner in the playoffs. The Colts would be in big trouble without Addai, not Rhodes.

Agree with you on June. As for Harper, he's 33 and the Colts have spent high draft picks on corners the last few years. Time for them to play.

Harper is alright, but he is nowhere near a shutdown corner. Bob Sanders is the real heart and soul of that defense.

On the way off the field, up the tunnel, whatever, after the AFCC game he was quoted as saying "The Patriots are Finished".

He was right for the 2006 season - but I think he was thinking bigger than that.

He has to be fit to be tied. Two of his main rivals for the AFCC, the Pats and the Broncos, are improving the areas of their teams that kept them from going further, and he can't do anything. They have very little cap room, and the lowest first round pick. He needs to decide if its better to move up and try to grab a true impact defender or try to plug all the holes.

Yeah, they won't pay those guys because they don't have the money to do so ;)
I guarantee Addai will struggle without having the explosive Rhodes spelling him next year. Hell, taking out his huge game against Philly (171 yards) and he isn't even an 1000 yard guy.

Oh yeah....Polian has to be worrying right now....they had to use a combination of flu/Aurbachian temperature trick/referee payola to pull out the AFCCG last year. They have added nothing....the Pats are reloading big time. I might have to go and read the Indy Colts boards (read, not troll) to get a feel to see if any panic is setting in.

I also wonder if Kraft/Beoli just got fed up with all his crap complaining to the league too. This tastes a bit like payback beyond just trying to win....like wanting to shove it in the Colts face.

He came back a day or 2 later and tried to down play those comments.

Looked like damage control to me.

He has made his move. John Navarre - STiff..err QB.

I think it was something more to the effect of "The Patriots time is over". Same basic message and intent though.

Before the Superbowl I don't think anyone had used the word 'explosive' next to Rhodes in five years. Except to say that he wasn't explosive enough for a smaller back.

The Colts likely need to add another back. They picked a guy up that Cincinnati cut last year who sounds like he's got some explosiveness, but he is pretty small. Look for the Colts to grab a back in the draft.

Like all dominating offenses the Colts are wearing down.

Edge is gone. Depth at RB is gone. Addai is a system guy. Stockley is gone. Harrison is over 35, and the Left Tackle is in his mid thirties.

The Defense is a shambles and a joke and has always been one, carried along on the back of the offense.

Watch out Belooowwww!!
