That is the conclusion I am forced to reach after watching that debacle of a 'pass defense'. After Talib went down, they all fell like dominoes. Mismatches all over the field, the most glaring one being nobody could cover Demaryius Thomas if their lives depended on it.

I think this makes Talib a must sign in the offseason. We also need to seriously consider what other moves we can make to shore up the defense and the offense. I'm thinking we need another marquee safety/CB and an athletic TE because Gronk's health is questionable. And well, we all see how ugly it gets if Talib gets dinged up. We need a backup plan!!

Hopefully we can resign some key free agents and add a few pieces in the draft. We're going to need to step things up another level to go all the way in the hunt for the Lombardi.

I'm not sure what would be more rewarding. Re-Signing Talib or releasing Arrington.

Haven't you heard? The better move would be to let him walk.

The defensive line had more to do with it than the defensive backs. Manning wasn't touched never mind sacked.

It wasn't the reason they lost but they call a ticky tack pick against Hoo-man but then Welker blows up Talib and hurts him and there's not flag for the same thing. I hope WW drops a game clinching catch again this year.

As far as signing Talib it depends on the money. Hard to give the guy huge money and years when he's always hurt.

Yeah. That's it. Wilfork and Kelly would not have made a difference. Hernandez and Gronk wouldn't have helped.

How about we just appreciate how far this decimated team got and look forward to what a more complete team might do next year.

Congratulations to the team on giving us a post season despite an unprecedented run of injuries.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank the New England Patriots for another year of exciting football!

Talib has been on the sidelines when we have needed him most. Same with Gronk. These guys are monsters but it is a little disheartening having to rely on players that are so injury prone.

hes really good...but its a concern to me that for the 2nd year in a row he's been injured when we needed him the most

on the positive that means he's likely not getting top $$ and the pats can re-sign him

and hopefully talib won't be back if he wants decent $$...only sign him back for cheap..he can't stay healthy

I think this makes Talib a must sign in the offseason.
Like hell they do. When Dennard gets injured in the first quarter, Dennard comes back in the game. When Talib gets injured in the first quarter, Talib is done .... two years in a row.

Once Talib goes down the entire secondary falls apart again.

In a game of this magnitude you play unless your leg is falling off Talib got his ribs dinged up, he should have taken the needle, gotten taped up and back on the field. He could have covered. My impression is that hes soft.

Talib missed three regular season games due to injury:

Aqib Talib, CB for the New England Patriots at NFL.com

How many other games this season did Talib fail to finish?

New Orleans
Carolina
Denver (AFC Championship)
????

Just tells you how vunerable the Patriots secondary is without ONE shutdown CB in place (ala, Ty Law).

Talib's 2nd AFC conference game, injury.

We really need to fix our DL and OL as well as adding a good TE, WR and upgrade at S.

If you keep him..you pay him no more then 5 mill a year..and even that is too much

Yeah, not sure how you come out of yet another game with Talib being hurt and say he MUST be resigned.

Look, injuries are weird. Guys who seem brittle end up finally staying on field and being fine for years. Other guys who seem like iron men drop. I get it. But Talib...man, he's hurt a LOT.

One player???. The secondary is a hot mess. One guy goes down and it fails?? That is sad. And that is a reason this team falls short. They get it done sometimes, but deep protection is predictable and weak. Has been for years. When you have people praising the play of the likes of McCourty and Arrington, it's sad. Has been for years.

Dennard's not an elite CB1, but a CB2, and Ryan, despite the claims of many here, isn't ready for prime time, so this sort of thing should be no surprise.

belichick is not the mastermind everyone here thinks he is.

idk about that. i think it has more to do with him being stubborn and thinking he is such a great mastermind he can do more with way less. he is a brilliant coach, but he has been far to reluctant and slow to address the teams real needs and it has cost us games and championships.

It's not like the front 7 did much either. 4.2 per carry for Moreno, 9.3 and 400 yards for Manning. Zero turnovers, zero sacks That stat line will always be on a losing team.
