The Running Game Maroney is unproven.

I am concerned about or running game. Is it better with out Dillon. Maroney certainly didn't show he is ready. At this moment the Colts seem to have gotten the better running back, but beyond that it seems like last year the running plays being called did not take advantage of the type of running backs we had and to make it worst the offensive line did not do a good job of executing them even if the play called was a good one.

Maroney at times looked as though he just didn't get it, but that could be attributed to the play calling and he was a rookie. That being said the running game doesn't look that impressive and with the resent signings so far it appears we are headed to an air it out first mentality.

The pass setting up the run? I am not saying that is a bad thing. I just don't know what to make of it. Running it down their throats it wont be. Maroney prove me wrong. Please.

Maroney played just as well as Dillon last yr., while also showing some rookie mistakes and unfortunately suffering from a hard injury to run with. But yet, people are still so uncertain of him? He did everything he was asked to do last yr. and will most likely do the same this yr.

Maroney will atleast match what Dillon did here over the next few yrs. And IMO we could atleast expect 900-1200 yds this yr from Maroney. He was a rookie, not an nfl vet that we signed as a FA to take over the reins. To be honest with you, I'm okay with Maroney. I'm worried about our secondary with Willie Andrews and our lack of production from Chad Jackson. :bricks:

1. Maroney was injured and a newbie. He had a poor end of last season, and there are very good reasons for it.

2. Tom Brady is one of the most accurate and successful passers of all time. It makes far more sense therefore to focus on the throwing game vs the running the game.

3. The Pats are setting up for a brilliant offense: pass often and a lot. When the D's start becoming complacent and spreading it out, you give the ball to Maroney and let him break some huge runs.

Our rushing attack last season faced defenses that were unafraid of the passing game, and yet Maroney, for his part, averaged 4.3 YPC.

How long have you been watching football out of curiosity? Can you tell me that Barry Sanders was a terrible RB because he didn't run like Earl Campbell?

I think for me is a combination of things.
1. Maroney I hope he is better than I think he is.
2. The Running Plays called were bad for the most part.
3. The offensive line could not execute the good plays that were called.
Yes there are other concerns like our secondary, but I wasn't trying to cover all of them.

What I am worried about is the punting game. I mean who is going to be our punter? There's so much uncertainty. Josh Miller? Sourbrawn? Some rookie? Are any of them really that good? I am really worried about it. I hope I am wrong. Maybe BOR is right, we should draft a punter in the 1st round. I am coming around to his position.

I'm not taking it as an attack on Maroney. I can only conclude that you process visual stimuli differently than I. I saw Maroney as a tremendous weapon. He runs differently than Corey, but had to run behind the same line that had been blocking for Corey using many of the same plays as Corey. Don't you think the scheming and playcalling will be tailored more to Maroney's skillset next year? Add in Welker and Stallworth and hopefully Chad Jackson as well as a full offseason for Gaffney, and the running game stands to improve dramatically.

Maroney showed me at times that he was an absolute beast and contender for ROTY. Then injuries hit. Now he's healed up from the offseason and He is ready.

Are you one of those fans that thinks: If the right play is called it will be a dramatic touchdown?

Too many fans seem to forget that there is another team on the field and that every team has a coach, practices and tremendous athletes.

It is just the way I saw it. Is just Fan stuff. I think we take thing to serious. In the end I trust the Patriots organization knows what they are doing.
