Christmas has come SUPER early. Feel free to merge this with the Jets suck thread if need be.

Jets extend Rex Ryan to a multi-year contract

We'll keep having two tough games against them every season not two bonus round, that would be the case with a multi year extension of Sanchise.

Okay... I think he is a darn good coach, maybe I'm in the minority.

The problems the Jets have stemmed from giving him too much control over the personnel, dishing out outrageous contracts to fuel a short-sighted championship run sellout from 2009-10. That, and of course, Mark Sanchez.

If you give Rex a decent quarterback and keep him away from his dumb personnel moves, I think the Jets are a playoff contender each year.

The nice thing is, I think they saw enough to convince themselves that Geno could develop into a good QB. I don't think he can, but he bought himself 2014 at least. Then we'll see in 2015, he'll be supplanted halfway through the season by some no name, prompting them to draft another "franchise" QB in the 2016 draft, just in time for Rex to be at the end of his contract, hanging his hopes on yet another rookie QB that he has no interest in developing properly. The cycle will continue.

I agree, he's a very good coach. They've just had some personnel issues (which may be at least partially Rex's fault). First and foremost, drafting and extending Sanchez, bringing in Tebow, and going for big names expensive players instead of building depth. If they get that figured out they'll be in good shape.

Not sure how it could be anything but good news. Ryan has been god awful as a head coach. I do agree that only an extension of the Sanchise would top that, though.

Would not be surprised at all to See Vick lining out at QB next year there.

Rex Ryan is a very good defensive coordinator. Rex Ryan is clueless when it comes to offense.

As long as they keep Geno Smith as the starter i don't care who their coach is

Very misguided glee over a coach who's come into Foxborough and won playoff games.
Bizarre obsession!! ;)

Against one of the worst defenses that Belichick has fielded since he's been there and a team that had no right to be 14-2. Since that game, he's gone 1-5 with that one being a win that he had no right to have since the referees blew the call. He's terrible. He's a defensive coordinator at best.

Report: Jets, Rex Ryan Agree On Multi-Year Contract Extension « CBS New York

The New York Jets and head coach Rex Ryan have agreed on a multi-year contract extension, according to Adam Schefter of ESPN.
Terms of the contract were not immediately known, but ESPN reported Ryan’s new deal will keep him with the Jets for at least three seasons and is loaded with incentives based on postseason wins. Ryan had one year remaining on a contract he reworked in 2010, worth about $3 million annually.

Haha this thread is awesome

Wrecks has won more than one playoff game in Foxboro? He is 4-7 vs. BB and never has won the division. Nothing at all misguided about appreciating this welcome news.

Re: Schefter gives us the best news we've heard all day: Jets sign Rex Ryan to extens

How do you go from almost getting fired on the last day of the season to a contract extension?

Re: Schefter gives us the best news we've heard all day: Jets sign Rex Ryan to extens

misguided or not, if the jets get their offense straightened out they could be a scary team. they are built to beat the patriots, that alone should scare some of us.

Re: Schefter gives us the best news we've heard all day: Jets sign Rex Ryan to extens

Rex gets credit when it comes to defense but pretty much nothing else. He is out of his league and comes off as a buffoon in his pressers. He can't do anything with his offense and can't seem to develop any kind of quarterback. You would at least think he could find someone just to manage a game but he cant even do that?

Welcome back Ryan. Your team plays us tough and you may win games here and there but you have no consistency and can get blown out by any team on any given Sunday. That is a sign of mediocrity.
