Detroit Lions are hiring Jim Caldwell as their head coach, per a league source.

I didn't realize Matt Millen was the still the GM and calling the shots in Detriot.

For a team that desperately needs a coach that inspires fear and respect from the players, Jim Caldwell is the obvious choice. :bricks:

Too bad we'll never know how Caldwell feels about it.

Re: OT: Detroit Lions hire Jim Caldwell as HC

What a god awful hire. He was not responsible for Flacco's play/luck in the playoffs last year and I highly doubt he can fix Stafford while earning the respect of that locker room.

Re: OT: Detroit Lions hire Jim Caldwell as HC

Well I guess if you believe in extreme opposite personalities....Caldwell and Lions makes sense.

"Guys, please be nice! Suh, why are you so mean? Try to be nicer".

They are trying to get a 2 season lead in the most 0-16 seasons record.

Giving loads of grief to my Lion's fan friend right now.

I'll repeat my comment from the Whisenhunt thread:

Another loser HC for another loser franchise.

Detroit…the Jets of the NFC North

Unbelievable, even the Lord Peyton Manning gave this guy a big dose of disrespect on the sideline once when Caldwell called a stupid TO, imagine what those fellas in Detroit will do.

Beat me to it. That team has talent on both sides of the ball. What they lack is discipline and control. Caldwell lacks the personality to be the heavy hand.

this is the same guy who took an indy team from 2nd place in the league to dead last right?

And the same guy who didn't want to go for the 16-0 season.

I wouldn't bag on Whisenhunt. He would have done well in Az if he had anythinbg resembling a QB

I actually think it is more accurate to say they have talented players on both sides of the ball, but a lot of holes too.

Wade Phillips would have been a better choice at lest there defense would have been great

We are truly blessed. Parcells to turn the franchise around, a little lull with Pumped and Jacked and then 14 years of the greatest ever. Since the merger, Lions fans have literally not known what it's like to have a competent coach.
