I don't know, the Titans were pretty good early in the season before Locker got hurt. Obviously, not living/working in Detroit is a plus, but this team is pretty talented and I don't think the Lions situation was that much better, if any. Maybe Whisenhunt doesn't believe in Stafford, who appears to be the guy no matter who the coach ends up being.

*yawn*

lol

Another loser coach for another loser franchise.

Billy O just popped some champagne.

Unless he's bringing Kurt Warner with him, this is probably going to fail.

Bud Adams must've offered more money, more years, and more power than Detroit did.

Whiz is a good coach; as long as Bud stays out of the way, Indy will have more competition
in the division next season.

It would be an absolutely slick move by Bud, since he died in October.

We will see how he does. I thought he was a pretty good coach in AZ. I wonder what he'll do at QB (stay with Locker or look elsewhere)?

I think Whisenhunt is a pretty good coach. I can understand not taking the Detroit job, simply because the Fords are apparently crap owners, and I don't see how you can expect to win on a team where Stafford, Megatron and Suh are taking up most of your cap space. I think people are getting caught up in the big names at the top of the roster, and failing to realize that due to how much they're getting paid there's very little talent behind them. That's why they had to let Cliff Avril go for relative peanuts, and it's only going to get worse when Suh cashes in. And on top of that, I'm still not convinced that Stafford is a good quarterback. He was downright awful down the stretch this year, when Calvin Johnson was downgraded to merely 'really good' by his knee troubles.

Contrary to the public opinion, I think Tennessee could be a good job opportunity for Whisenhunt. They have some real talent in place at WR (Hunter and Wright), Delanie Walker is a good TE, their offensive line has some talent, their defense is really good, and they have a lot of cap space once they get rid of their RBs. Whisenhunt will need to groom a QB, but regardless of what happened in Arizona, that's what he's supposed to be good at. We now have data points suggesting that he can do it (Roethlisberger) and that he can't (Leinart, Kolb), while Skelton just wasn't an NFL-caliber QB. Now he'll get another shot at it, and if he can get a QB in this draft and have him performing capably by year 2, he's potentially looking at a playoff team. ****, they almost made the playoffs this year with Ryan Fitzpatrick at QB.

It's by no means a slam dunk, he obviously has some challenges in front of him, but if that wasn't the case than Munchack wouldn't have been fired to begin with. If you're taking over a vacant job, there's always going to be question marks up and down the roster. I do know that I'd rather take over this situation than the Lions.

he was horrible in AZ. his flip flopping of Leinhart and Warner was ridiculous, and the constant merry go round of starters he tried using, never committing to anyone, was horrible.

True he didn't solidify the QB spot which is the most important spot on the roster. I don't think he was horrible, though. Two losing seasons along with two .500 and one 9 and one 10 win season. Two playoff appearances in six years, a SB appearance and a 4-2 playoff record. We will see if he has learned anything from that job.

Didn't know the fords own the lions. In this case I better not access this forum from a workstation...

I'm gonna check if I can apply for a internal job change

All that from the AFC west that at the time was horrendous.

His record as a head coach is 45-51

8-8 with warner starting most of the games
9-7 with warner as the full time starter getting to the superbowl
10-6 with warner as the starter getting to the playoffs
5-11 with warner retired QB carousel begins
8-8 continues
5-11 continues

his two best years are with warner as his starter for a whole season.I want to say in those 6 years as a head coach he started 6 different QB's out of choice and not injuries.

Many clubs give a 1st time fired HC another shot because the candidate excelled as a coordinator and nearly everyone makes mistakes at a new position. Let's see if he's learned from his indecision and other rookie HC mistakes now that he's had time to reflect on it.

Yes, the NFC West was bad then (7-9 Seahawks anyone?). As I said, he didn't have one starting QB when he was there but I still thought he did fine. We will see how TEN improves or not. It's not a secret that to succeed in the NFL you really need a starting QB. Finding one is the tough part.
