On Fox25 when asked how his future as a Patritot is looking he said "Its looking very good"

and the whirlwind continues maybe Asante is next......

I hope it's true and not just good PR.

When asked about more he said he couldn't because his mouth was shut by BB. He looked prety giddy in the interview. He said he couldn't see how it could take a turn for the worse. Or something to that effect.

They said that the full interview is on the fox25 website. I haven't checked it out so don't hold me to it.

Hearing what he had to say was very encouraging. Let's all hope that it wasn't just PR.

If true this is very good news. And I see no reason for Asante to lie. :) I'm thinking a deal gets worked out before training camp begins, possible after the draft.

It would be great to get this done. 'Sant and Hobbs could be a pretty good pair for a few years. Gay as the #3 guy and a midround pick (#3, #4) would give us a solid group at CB. Not to mention that a new long term deal would almost certainly lower Samuel's cap hit for 2007.

that would be unreal if we signed him before this season started.

I really hope we do.

Oh darn, that sucks! There, I feel better. What were we talking about and why is Keegs wearing a lamp shade?

Wow. This makes me Cautiously optimistic for re-signing Asante. Those last words of the interview, "I really don't see how this could end up going wrong" really make me happy!!

Lets get this done and and move onto the draft.

The most telling part of that interview to me was the very beginning. Usually when a guy is just speaking PR-ese, it's kinda low key and they'll be looking down as they say it, speaking quickly and such.

Asante even looked at the camera for a split second when he said it was looking pretty good, then got a smile on his face. When the reporter repeats "It's looking pretty good," he just nods yes with that same smile.

I think it sounds great. I don't expect to wake up tomorrow to the headlines of him re-signing but just from that one interview, I think it's going to get done.

It was a nice upbeat interview, you had to love the "we" and "our" usage as a fan awaiting a re-signing. Sad to think all my plans to trade him for that 1st round Punter are going out the window though. :(

Maybe not tommorow but I do expect to read about this in the coming week. I thought that looked really promising and with the way things have gone this seems great.

sweet interview, thanks for the link.

I would love for this to happen, I just hope that its for reasonable money. The Pats have been reasonable so far this off-season.....hope they continue.

If this does happen, this will really open up the draft as far as choices.

Good lord is Butch Stearns annoying. He looked so disappointed to hear Asante say that "things are lookin' pretty good."

Yea that announcer seemed like he was trying to get something started, couldn't take the fact that Asante wasn't pouting like Deion was.

Thanks a lot for the link.

that looks real good.

I honestly don't think that Asante would say "I don't think how things could go bad", if he didn't mean it.

Sign this dude to big money and then let Deion take it as a slap in the face.

You suck Deion.
