O.K. While we dwell on NE past and present type posts lately why don't we argue as to who you thought was the most overrated Patritos player and most underrated player?

For those who have trouble understanding, the overrated player would be a guy always in the news with his career always in a positive way and you felt he was not really that good and for the underrated player the guy you felt was never talked about but deserved praise for his unheralded work ethics.

As overrated player? I say Terry Glenn.. Made many mistakes, dropped balls too often and caused problems for the team with his constant injuries and when not injured whined alot but always got media attention for when he did make the big plays

Underrated player? I would say Andre Tippett...He just happened unfortunately to be playing LB in the Lawrence Taylor era,Otherwise he would not only be the best LB to play in the 80s but would probably be in the HOF by now..Not too many people outside of NE really knew was a disruptive dominating force he was at the LB position,We may never see a guy of his caliber again in a NE uniform-he was that good.

Runner-ups would be Underrated Troy Brown and Overrated Tony Eason

Overated- How about Willie Mcginnist.. Yeah he was ok, but where was he from 97 till about 2002... He was too busy worrying about what time the mcd's was open , then what time he had to sack a few Qb's

Underated- well according to Pats mgmt Curtis Martin, he should have been paid like a all pro back that he was...

You know why he was inj, he was too busy chasing down the fry guy at mcd's in those tickle me pete yrs, rather than being a dominat pass rusher he was under Parcells, and somwhat under Belichick

I always felt the most overrated Patriot was Russ Francis.

Drew Bledsoe
Rodney Harrison

The most underrated player is definitely Mike Vrabel. In the years of the dynasty, Seymour, Bruschi, Rodney and even Ty Warren have always gotten more love. Still, when you think about it, Vrabel has been the most solid, consistent and reliable member of this defense.

Most underrated Patriot has to be Harold Jackson. Stanley Morgan and Russ Francis got most of the attention but Jackson is still the Patriots all-time leader in terms of yards per catch with an amazing 20.3 avg. How much would a guy like Jackson command for money in today's market?

Most overrated is Tommy Hodson in the sense that he was expected to be Grogan's successor when NE drafted him. It was clear after watching his first couple pre-season games that he wasn't an NFL caliber QB. He only lasted two years in NE and was a completely wasted draft pick.

Good one, agree completely with this. The 1979 season when both he and Morgan totaled over 1000 yards receiving which is amazing considering the era and a run orientated offence.
Overrated I would say Russ Francis only because Howard Cosell keep calling him All World and he really wasn't that good. Though he was hurt quite a bit that really hindered him.

Overrated Andy Katzemoyer..

Underrated anyone of the players in the first Superbowl, there are some who are still stuck on the tuck rule and how we did not deserve it.

I always thought Chris Slade was underrated back in the day.... but i was pretty young then and he was probably my favorite player so that may be why.

Drew Bledsoe, no doubt about it.

Shhhh... Don't let LeKevin Smith see you say who your favorite Patriot is or was for that matter.

Please add Kevin Faulk's name to the underrated list. He's never gotten enough props.

Overrated at least by the fans, Michael Bishop.
Underrated Troy Brown.
