In 2006 there was a focus to get younger on offense. At first I was thinking the Patriots would try to split the two 1st round picks (1 offense and 1 defense) now I am wondering if they do the opposite of 2006 and focus on defense.

Too simple, yes? no?

2006 Draft Summary
- 10 picks overall
- offensive focus - 5 out the first six 6 picks and 6 out of 10 overall
- 1 specialist
- 3 day 2 picks on defense all 6th round+

1 21(21) Laurence Maroney RB Minnesota
2 4(36) Chad Jackson WR Florida
3 22(86) David Thomas TE Texas
4 9(106) Garret Mills TE Tulsa
4 21(118) Stephen Gostkowski K Memphis
5 3(136) Ryan O'Callaghan T California
6 22(191) Jeremy Mincey DE Florida
6 36(205) Dan Stevenson OG Notre Dame

look at our depth chart on offense
theres not a single position that looks old
on defense
safety, linebacker are def old (safety has geno and sanders, but geno is a fa after the yr and sanders eh)
so, yes there will def be an emphasis on d in this draft

I agree this looks like a defensive draft for this team, not only in terms of need but in terms of supply.. with that being said, no one knows what is in these guys minds. That is why I think all of these potential drafts are nutz, as much as they are fun good luck figuring out what our braintrust will do.
