Rejoice! Rejoice! It's official. Woody Johnson has confirmed that Rex, coming off a terrific 8-8 season, will return for business in 2014. This virtually assures yet another year of irrelevancy and mediocrity for the hapless Jests.

Gotta love it! :rocker:

Rex is the jelly of the month club. He's the gift that keeps on giving.

So let's see... another year of drafting a defensive stud in the first round while completely ignoring the offense... another up and down win-lose-win-lose season... another year with slim playoff chances... but in the end, no cigar!

I'll take it!

Do you folks not see that Rex defends the Pats better than anyone? I would be rejoicing if we DIDN'T have to face him anymore. As the Pats found out, when Geno plays well they can beat anybody. He looked great today.

Right. And Rex has provided so much competition to our success in his last 5 years. (ok, ok, there was that ONE playoff game....blind squirrel theory at work)

Not worried. He sucks as a HC.

I agree, Rex is a great X and O guy on Defense and he does a good job of getting his team motivated for big games, much like Parcells did. Problem is that any team would be better of with BB's approach of keeping an even keel and respecting every opponent regardless of where they stand.

Also, I like Rex, he keeps it interesting. I honestly think he's a top ten coach. Imagine what he could do with a real QB?

Yeah, I just have to disagree with you entirely. Despite TERRIBLE QB play, he has taken the jets to the playoffs twice, the AFC championship game, and has beaten Brady four times. They were very close to sweeping us this year. Their D line is an absolute nightmare and Geno showed signs of progress. The best thing for the Pats would be for the Jets to fire Rex and suffer through more lack of continuity.

Fine defensive coordinator. Clown as a head coach. I'm happy he's back. He'll have his moments and win some big games, but he'll lose more big ones than he wins. Plus, he and Idzik are oil and water.

lol how's his record against the fins? The guy is a one trick pony.... nothing to be concerned about. It's a division game...they're always going to be closer.

I think the Jets will be around an 8-8 team. The D-Line is amazing, but the talent isn't their. I don't believe in Geno or Morningweig. This is a good move by the Jets to keep him, but they won't be a threat yet

The guy can't coach both sides of the ball and thus a complete game to save his life. His basic in-game decision making sucks. He almost swept us this year? Do you watch the games? Without a gift call at the end of the game, he loses BOTH to us. His team could just as easily have gone 5-11 this year. of course his front D-line is impressive. He's used a high 1st pick every year for 5 years on it. And he's shown zero ability to develop young players, especially Qbs.

He's a one-trick pony stuck in 1970s - 80s football.

He's dyslexic also...and I presume he's manic depressive to some degree...I mean his highs and lows are starkly contrasted. I love that he's going to be there another year.

Go Jets!10 characters

I join those in this thread who wish Ryan had been fired. The guy knows how to coach in big games and knows how to defend Brady.

Jets outplayed the Pats in both games. And the jets won the second game because the Jets coaching staff tipped the refs to the Pats' tendency to break the newly instituted rule. That sounds like good coaching to me.

I think he should be commended for fielding competitive teams with Sanchez and now a rookie QB and terrible skill position players. If Smith develops and they get a big time WR they will challenge for the division.

Again, they went to back to back AFC champ. Games with Mark Sanchez at QB. that is not indicative of good coaching? After that, the D got old and they successfully rebuilt the D. A good offseason to rebuild the offense and they are very dangerous.

And I say they got to back-to-back AFCCGs (with Mangini's teams, no less) in spite of Rex, not because of him. He's the same guy who espoused "Ground and Pound" in today's pass happy NFL. His Dad was a talentless dumbass who inherited great talent and was a terrible HC. Rex is just a chip off the old block.

I hope both Rex and Woody grow old together.

And way to go out on a limb...If Geno develops and they get a big time WR they'll be a threat. When will WE get a big time WR?
