most of it was actually james sanders

as for the draft they said we should look at patrick willis at 24 and reggie nelson at 28
if those two were avail there and we took them i think id make a lil mess in my pants

I am going to have to agree here. I wouldn't mind Griffin at 28, I would LOVE Nelson. Meriweather, eh, i don't know, but if BB likes him so do I.

Posluszny and Griffin would make decent first round for me.

I completely agree, and although it is somewhat unrealistic, I seriously did not believe that Wilfork would be there, nor Manny lawson for our pick last year (although we didnt take him).

hell, look at Gerald Green for the Celtics a couple years ago. He slipped and slipped right into the Celtics' laps.

If we got one of Willis or Nelson, I would be ecstatic. Two would be a fantasy come true.

I agree that it's unrealistic, yet possible. More likely is Willis and Griffin. Not that Willis WILL make it to 24 but he could. And with, likely, two #4s we could also do a minor trade up if he gets close.

Yeah. That tends to happen when you lose both of your starters at safety.

Have felt all along that our biggest needs are LB, C and Safety.. whoever is available and is the best fit for our team should be drafted here. Not that enthused about Sanders, when Rodney went down they lost a lot of leadership in tha position.. Hawkins is ok, but may need more quality there also.

IMO -- we're not OK at Safety. Actually, it's the ONLY position I'm confident we'll draft from rounds 1-4.

At FS, Wilson and Hawkins haven't proven to be playmakers. All signs say that Reggie Nelson is.

At SS, although Sanders is a good player, he's not in the same ballpark as Rodney. If we can upgrade this position with someone closer to Rodney's skills, then we may do so.

Overall, the Safety position is quite a deep and talented group. If we pass on the round one prospects, not to worry...they'll be options later on at both FS and SS.

We are definitely not okay at safety. I think it is a big need. I have been watching Michael Griffin and like what I see.

Is it the attitude questions you guys don't like about Meriweather? 'Cause when it comes to talent he is better than Griffin, and right up there with Nelson. Mike Mayock even has Meriweather as the second best safety behind Laron Landry. What I like about Meriweather: He has CB coverage skills, gets his nose dirty against the run, likes to play close to the LOS, is a solid blitzer, tackles well, hits you in the mouth, and is a team leader on the field. I think BB could turn him into a beast.

The Attitude stuff I understand when it comes to the helmet incident, but the shooting that took place wasn't his fault. Someone shot his roommate, and Brandon used his licenced, and legally owned gun to return fire, he didn't actually shoot anyone, and he was just protecting his roommate, legally. The police even said what Brandon did was legal. Going back to the helmet incident, the player he attacked had actually attacked one of the Miami coaches, so Brandon jumped in to protect his coach. I don't condone using your helmet against another player (who was fully paded) but if one of my coaches was attacked I probably would do the same. The guy has just been in some bad situations, and he was the only player involved to issue a written apology.

Hawkins is not oK, at the end of the year his lack of speed was evident. Sanders will be a decent player not great

I'm fine with Merriweather if he checks out OK with his behavior. With Griffin, though, I love his top special teams ability; you know how important that is to Belichick.

Yes, we would definitely any player who dropped to us who was close to Harrison's skill level, or Seymour's, or Hobbs, or Samuel, or Warren's or Brady's or Welker's, or Maroney's or any other of our top players.

The draft is crapshoot and it is rare that a PROJECTED all-pro drops to 24.

Sanders looked aweful at FREE SAFETY. He was a very solid SS. And yes, few teams have a solid secondary when they lose both safeties. Fewer yet LEAD the league in touchdowns allowed.

For me, the question at safety is how high we would trade for Nelson or Landry before we settle for Griffin or someone else. For me, safety and corner are our top Day One priorities. It seems possible, even likely, that neither of our "starting" safeties will be starting in 2008. And 2008 and 2009 are what the draft is about.

I agree with those saying that safety is a BIG need. I actually like how Sanders has progressed, but would like to see a 1st round investment in any of the usual suspects mentioned - Nelson, Griffin, Merriweather, etc... Landry would obviously be phenomenal

There are those that say neither Sanders nor Hawkins nor Gay nor Scott are great safeties. But they aren't our starters. Harrison and Wilson are, but they were injured.

They say we need a repalcement for Harrison who is getting old. Therefore they diss Sanders, and want somebody who is 6-0+ and 210 +. Ideally they seek a Harrison clone of 6-1 220.

The draft has such players. Eric Weddle 6-0 210, Sabby Piscatelli 6-2 225, Fred Roach 6-3 225, and John Welding 6-3 222. All of these guys are NOT First Round draft picks.

All or most will be available in the third round, and can be obtained by trading our third and a sixth for an earlier third to position, if desired.

I see no reason to be drafting Safeties in Round 1. I do see a need to draft LBs and CBs are the athletes, who don't last too long. But CB is not a need pick either; merely the useful choice.
