The move that might finally bring much-needed improvement to the offense could come if Miami, as expected, offers a contract to free agent receiver Donte' Stallworth.

Stallworth has spent the past two evenings with Dolphins brass, and agent Drew Rosenhaus said he expects a contract offer from the Dolphins to be forthcoming.

The Eagles, Titans and Patriots have offers on the table, according to Rosenhaus, and Stallworth is interested in making a decision after his visit with Miami.

Stallworth, who owns a house locally, would like to play for the Dolphins, and the Dolphins would like to have him at the right price.

Despite this, Rosenhaus wasn't promising a home-field advantage for the Dolphins, suggesting the San Francisco 49ers might also join the field of teams bidding for his client.

I wouldn't believe a word that comes out of Rosenhaus's mouth. Remember this is the guy who started his own rumor to get McGahee drafted in the first round...a pick I bet the Bills would like to have back. Not that he's a bad runner, but he wasn't a value since he missed essentially his rookie year, and left the team in a contract dispute. Though getting TWO third rounders wasn't a horrid deal.

Exactly, and as has been stated, one only needs to look at the agent behind this "circus" to understand what's really going on. First, it was a Philly preference and if that couldn't be worked out, New England was Stallworth's next choice. Right now with Stallworth and Rosenhaus, it's love the team you're with until they show you the money.

I don't really blame him for finding a team this way. Stallworth's objective is to find the best deal regardless of the team. I was hoping he'd be dissatisfied with what he's seen so far, and sign with the Pats for one season to pump up his value. The longer this goes on, the less likely that will happen.

I have no problem with Stallworth going out and trying to get the best deal he can. I actually think the longer he drags out the process, the MORE likely he will end up with us with an one year deal.

If Stallworth got the offer he wanted from any one of Miami, Philly, Tennessee, or the Pats; we would be signed today. Obviously no one is giving him remotely close to what he is asking for. That means he may be more willing to sign an one year deal and prove his worth rather than take a multiyear deal for less than he thinks he is worth.

He has stated Philly and the Pats are his first two choices. The Eagles are already preparing to move on looking at Kevin Curtis and signing Bethel Johnson. If Philly finds another WR to go with, Stallworth will then opt to sign an one year deal.

I don't know why people always trash a player when he is trying to get the best deal he can. Football is a business. People seem to be ok with it when we cut a player because he counts too much towards the cap or hasn't lived up to his contract, but alway call the player greedy when they try to make money on the open market.

If Stallworth insists of getting more than we think he is worth, we will move on. I think he is finding no one will pay him what he feels he is worth. I don't blame him for trying to get it though.

Actually I think Rosenhaus is playing this one to the benefit of his client for the time being.

Since they weren't part of the initial feeding frenzy, it makes sense for Stallworth to bide his time until

1) Someone decides its worth overpaying to address a deep threat need or
2) Camps start and a WR gets injured

The latter might be the best way for him to maximize his 1 year contract value - let a few teams suffer injuries and they engage in a bidding war for him.

The only way I'm signing sooner rather than later if I'm Stallworth if I get multiple years guaranteed now.

I think at the right price, some teams might be willing to do that. My hope is that Stallworth sees the value of playing for Brady in a contract year, and on a contending team where he can play a big role in a Super Bowl season.

Well stated. Gotta think that Rosenhaus is looking for big $$$ or he'd be signed by now. There's a risk, however, waiting too long. Once all teams have committed to FAs and completed their drafts, they've also eaten in to their available cap. My guess is that they'd like to sign in the next week as getting close to TC increases the risk that they'll be cornered into a salary with no upside. Here's hoping this points them to the team that can get him the numbers in a one-year deal to vault him higher up the value ladder next year.

The only downside with the Pats, as mentioned before, is that they spread the ball around and don't emphasize one receiver. We shall see . . .
