What are the status of these guys?

Has Mike Wright been signed?
Has he been offered a minimum contract, thereby locking him up for us?
Why wouldn't they sign this guy - BB's had nothing but good things to say to him?

I'm a little confused about Gay's status - on Miguel's page, he is listed as a restricted free agent, but on the cap page, it says he's signed through 2009.
I know a team would have to give up a 2nd to sign him, and that they tendered him a contract, so maybe Migue's page just has a mistake on his 'signed through' info.

Barry Gardner was supposed to be a decent backup signed last year, and then got hurt, so did they sign him for this year? Seems to me we could use some backup linebacker depth.

any insight on these guys status?

You're misreading Miguel's page in the case of Wright; he's signed for one more year.

And then I imagine he's an RFA.

But yeah -- he could leave some day, so maybe we need to spend one more pick and roster slot on DL than I've been thinking.

so maybe Migue's page just has a mistake on his 'signed through' info.

Fixed that mistake as well as the one on Rashad Baker.

I read somewhere (sorry, forget where) that Gardner is still rehabbing that gruseome leg break.

However, Wright is still listed as both a UFA and RFA in 2008 on the FA page.

and he's still listed as a UFA for this year on that page - that's what I'm trying to say, and is what's throwing me - if he's signed, then it should indicate he's been signed just like it does for Izzo and others. If he's not, then why does the cap page say signed through 2007? I'm betting Miguel has assumed he's been signed, and added him to the cap page, but hasn't updated the FA page yet because maybe it hasn't been announced - is that correct Miguel? - If so, then the answer to 'has he been signed yet?' is we're not sure, we think probably, but we don't really know.

I would hope they would sign him if they haven't. He's young and a good backup NT. If they already have I can't imagine why they wouldn't announce it.

just my 2 cents.

He is an exclusive rights free agent this offseason.

He will be a restricted free agent next offseason if he accrues a season before then (at least 6 games on the 53-man or I.R.)

Hi Miguel, on this subject, is Dillon's cap hit that much this year? Looks like you have his salary added into his cap (dead) hit. Was it guaranteed?

Thanks for your hard work. You are the man.

right - that's what I meant to say - ERFA - not UFA, but my point remains that Miguel's list show's him still listed as a ERFA and not signed. Hopefully,
he really is signed already.

As an exclusive rights free agent Mike Wright had to be receive a

tender offer from the Pats before free agency started. Whether or

not he has signed the offer as yet is immaterial. The Pats have

his exclusive rights for the year.

so that means he can't play for anyone else this year, so that's nice.
but he's also not playing for us until we see that he's signed - correct?
I'd just like to know he's on board.
hopefully soon.

The Pats didn't officially sign two of their exclusive rights free agents last year, Mruczkowski and Yates, until the day before training camp.

No, that is the way the early June 2 rule works.

"For any player removed from the Team’s roster, or whose Contract is assigned to another Club via waivers or trade, on or before June 1 in any League Year prior to the Final Capped Year, or at any time during
the Final Capped Year, any unamortized signing bonus amounts will be included in Team Salary for such League Year, except that for each League Year preceding the Final Capped Year, each Club may designate up
to two Player Contracts that, if terminated on or prior to June 1 and if not renegotiated after the last regular season game of the prior League Year, shall be treated (except to the extent prescribed by Section 7(d)(iii)
below) as if terminated on June 2, i.e., the Salary Cap charge for each such contract will remain in the Club’s Team Salary until June 2, at which time its Paragraph 5 Salary and any unearned LTBE incentives will no longer be counted and any unamortized signing bonus will be treated as set forth in Subsection (2) below."
