Worst Starter in Patriot History

Oh there was a HOF'er on the Packers roster.. sounds like more excuse making to me.

Silver medal...first loser...

Respective to Drew's contract he was detrimental to the team.

Logic > Sentiment.

GGthx.

It's always nice to see the people who don't let reality get in the way of their petty vendettas. I don't recall, for example, Bledsoe letting Desmond Howard chew him up on special teams. Was Drew out on the field when that was happening? Who was the quarterback that took that overmatched team all the way to the Super Bowl?

Some numbers about Bledsoe:

Among the league's all-time top 50
Pass attempts: 5
Completions: 5
Passing yards: 7
Passing TDs: 13

Yes, let's call him the Patriots' worst starter ever.

come on he was such a great Patriot doesnt deserve to be in this thread. 2nd best QB in team history and it is an insult to the organization to put him in here.

Bledsoe was third behind Brady and Grogan... Drew had some good moments, and is certainly not the worst Qb in Pats History..

Problem with your stats they all tie in directly with the numbers of years hes been in the league. I don't even need to look up numbers to know he has Brady in every one of those categories.

Bledsoe is not the worst starter in Pats history. But he definitely deserves honorable mention in my book.

How about QB Rating? Win:Loss Ratio? etc..

Bledsoe should not even be thought of on this list, as much as I did not care for him, he did a lot of good stuff while he was here. He had many games where on his arm he kept us in the game, he never feigned injury.. remember the game with the pin sticking out of his finger. If you want to look at QB's who stunk up this place look at Tony Eason, Joe Kapp and a few others. We are spoiled by Brady and everyone else pales to him.. however, Bledsoe was not even close to the worse starter in history on this team.

Ron Sellers was a wide receiver who didn't like to be tackled. He

would have been terrific if the NFL played flag football.

i agree with you on this 100% but, sorry, i do not think also Tony Eason should be mentioned...

It has to be Mike Taliaferro just because he lost his job to Joe Kapp (and if he can't beat out Kapp...)

The name Bledsoe shouldn't even be on this thread. He was an excellent payer for us and he kept us in contention for several years. We were heartsick when he went down and we thought the season was done.

Even when he was traded to Buffalo, as some of you might remember, there were many who wanted him to stay. Buffalo thought, with good reason, that he would make them into a contender.

Bledsoe as one of the worst starters in Patriot history? Nonsense.

The QB before Taliaferro, Tom Sherman, was worse, at least statistically. QBs per year back then went:

'67 Parilli (good career but nearing the end)
'68 Sherman
'69 Taliaferro
'70 Kapp
'71 Plunkett (misused)

Makes you appreciate Brady (understatement of the year :p ) and, yes, Drew Bledsoe.

Chad Brown and Monty Biesel. Chad would sit there and wait for the blocker to knock him over and Monty would get knocked over by a mosquito that bumped into him.

I'll go back aways but it's hard to match Eddie "Hands" Hinton , Alfred Sykes and John Tarver as the worst Starters ever in Patriots History.John Tarver one day in Oakland saw two defenders coming at Him and He panicked and threw the ball over his head backwards into the Patriots Endzone! You had to see it to believe it.They win since they were bad players on bad teams.

This list could go on forveer. I mean QB alone we have Secules, Wilson, Zolak.

RBs we have had Marion "1 yard and a cloud of dust" Butts.

WRs this list is too endless to even start listing players. Bu I think the scap team of 87 had WRs as good as some of our starting Wideouts over the years.

If I start getting into defense and O, my head might expode.

There was a kicker in the early 90's I think his last name was Garcia, Teddy Garcia? He was the worst, I think it might have been after they canned him that they held open tryouts for the position.

maurice "burnt toast" hurst, hart lee dykes,

Disregarding his contributions as a holder, the name Ken Walter has to be brought up here somewhere.

In 2003, my biggest concern about the team as a whole was Ken Walter. The PUNTER! Has this happened to any other fan of any other team before?

Reggie Dupard our #1 draft choice

Been down this road before. By far the worst was Marc Wilson.

Walter did have a fantastic 2001 season though. We rarely had a punt returned and his percentage of punts inside the 20 was outstanding.

He died off after that.
