Like any good safety, Deon Grant needed to have the right type of timing and anticipation.

I know we've had a good offseason.. but seriously.. How does this team bring in J.Peterson, Deon branch last year and extend Alexander. Now throw heavy money at this Grant and Kerney??

and still almost miss the playoffs last year?? ;)

As my old coach said, "almost doesn't count".. Remember they had injuries to key players..

I don't think Deon Grant is worth $5 million a year with an $11 million bonus.

I know Mike Lewis isn't worth $5 million per either.

Y'all can kiss Asante and Eugene goodbye next year if they stay healthy and in the lineup. Lewis couldn't even do that and look at him now! $$$!

Pats will be drafting safeties the next few years...

Wilson production has gone down every year.. I could careless if we lose him. Time to look at him at corner..

A Samuel.. I still think we'll keep him around for the long term.

Yep, I agree that Wilson is sooooo gone unless his play magically improves the first half of next season and they do a mid-season deal.

Not impressed with Grant at all. Doubt if he's an upgrade over Ken Hamlin. Would Pats be interested in Hamlin now? Grant won't have Stroud and Henderson blocking out the sun in front of him. Will be taking people on straight up out there. Hamlin could be our nickel safety. Would allow us to go lb and cb round 1.

In my opinion.. Hamelin would start over wilson.. Before the injury Hamelin was a beast in Seattle.. considering this could be his second year removed from a fractured skull, he might come along and show us that skill again..

But I still feel we'll go LB and DB with our 1st two picks (or CB and Safety with both Picks)..

If the pats aren't interested in Hamlin, they should be. Like you said, he could be our starting FS, Wilson moves back to CB, and our defensive backfield will have improved at 2 positions.

I would sleep better if the FO signs one of the remaining quality FA DBs during the next week...and an ILB, too.

I also feel that we should go CB/LB or CB/S with the 1st-rounders.

Agree 100%. I'm fairly confident Pats will take back-to-back DBs in Round 1. Unless they take Greg Oslon with one of the picks (I only wish that was meant to be a joke.)

The free agent market is ridiculous. He's an average starter.

Yep and we're going to see a lot more of average players becoming some of the highest paid players.

It's going to be really scary when an actual blue chip player hits the market. We'll see contracts like we've never seen before.

Because what happened last offseason won't seriously affect their cap for another few years. Unless they structured their contracts to be about the same cap hit year after year, the cap ramifications for Branch, Peterson, Burelson, Alexander, etc. haven't been realized yet. Kerney is one of those cuts where after June 1st, they can push most of his dead money into next season.

I think the Seahawks are in danger of being in cap problems in a few years if the cap growth starts to slow down.

Yeah, when you compare deals like this one and Graham's to Adalius', you guys got a steal.
