With denver losing..all we gotta do is win out and we have #1 seed.

We are getting 110% of effort from MIA and Balt as they are fighting for the playoffs. And they are on the road...going to be a wild finish i think

Thanks for the chance denver :D

Chargers beat Chiefs and Broncos now? That's insane!

Miami being a game back and at home gets all the calls. Puts Denver back up a game, but keeps the wild card and one seed story alive and well into next week.

Imagine if referee emphasis didn't hand us two garbage, bogus, nab and Jerry Crawford style losses.

This is probably unpopular but I don't want the 1st seed. I have a feeling Chiefs will crush Indy, and that would mean them coming to our house in Round 2. (Unless 6th seed pulls out an upset)

#2 seed is the best option. We can win at Denver. I know we can. Think about it... let Denver/KC slug it out in Round 2. Knowing Peyton he might even choke and lose. And then the AFC Championship would be in New England regardless as long as we take care of business.

I like that scenario.

anyone who doesn't want the #1 seed in the playoffs is on crack. All playoff games at home where brady is unbelievable? or go on the road where the pats struggle...hmmm

KC's pass defense is overrated. Nontheless......

(if we win out) Two home wins and THIS team is in the superbowl! That's amazing!

I like our chances in two home games.

To be fair, we have been pretty horrible at home in the playoffs lately.

The problem is the #2 seed is probably out of play at this point. Denver is not going to Houston or Oakland. Cincy probably doesn't lose either (pit, min, bal). With that one Pats loss drops Pats to 3 seed

rather go on the road where they struggle BIG time this year? Take my chances at home...

This team isn't built to win on road in the playoffs this year...injuries being the major issue

i can't believe the number of people here who like the idea of the pats going on the road in the playoffs...if they were healthy..i would have no issues with this

And remember...never won a SB not being #1 or #2 seed

Actually, I believe it's never reached a SB without a first-round bye.

You ALWAYS want to play at home whenever possible. It's automatically worth 3 points.

Personally i dont think the pats win out and keep the #1 seed. And Iam just happy to enjoy what this team does. A beat up team like the pats is fighting tooth and nail which needs to be appreciated.
I just enjoyed the denver loss regardless of the ramifications for the pats. Reiss said best today on the chat

Nicolas (Montreal)

Hi Mike, I've seen teams get plagued with injuries before but not ever like the Patriots have been especially with the season ending variety to starters. With that in mind should we not be more lenient and expect less of this team ? Should we not resign ourselves to a first/second round exit in the playoffs ? We cannot ask the backups and third man up to live up expectations we have for the full healthy roster
Mike (11:28 AM)

Nicolas, I look at it differently. The NFL is a moving target from week to week. The picture is ever-changing. So let's say we lower the expectations, and then all of a sudden Peyton Manning goes out and breaks his leg this week, do we raise those expectations all of a sudden? That's why I think the best approach is to go week by week, you hope your team survives and advances, and then you assess the next week based on what the picture looks like. I've noticed this as a trend in recent years. It seems like we often want to write the ending to the story while it's going on. I'm not quite sure why our general media/football culture is like that. We should all enjoy the journey more.

we are good enough to win at road. and we can be bad enough lose at home.

it's all about bringing A game in january

I agree that I would rather have the #1 seed. Denver is the only team I would feel comfortable playing on the road.

You're right about Denver. They will beat both those teams. But I could totally see Bengals dropping one to either Steelers and/or Ravens.

Oh well. Whatever happens... happens! No matter where we play, Pats will find a way to win!
