we touched some months ago the best and the worst QB, now the LB but...

who have been the best running backs in the Pats history ?

Sam Bam Cunningham ? Curtis Martin ? Corey Dillon ? Tony Collins ? Jim Nance ? Mosi Tatupu ?

your top 5 ?

Sam Gash?:p

imho my top 7:

1 - Sam Cunningham
2 - Jim Nance
3 - Curtis Martin
4 - Corey Dillon
5 - Tony Collins
6 - Mosi Tatupu
7 - Craig James

1) Curtis Martin
2) Sam Cunningham
3) Jim Nance
4) Tony Collins
5) Craig James

Dillon would probably come next.

robert edwards :D :D

Dillon is IMO the best running back to ever wear a Patriots jersey but he is not the best running back in Patriots history.

he had an amazing rookie season - i had big hopes on him - he could have been, imho, a very good runner...

pity and sad what happened...

Jim Nance
Sam Cunningham
Larry Garron
Tony Collins

dam I wish I was old enough to know all the old timers as well

I agree with you. Would you put Curtis Martin in the same category?

best season by a Pats running back: Corey Dillon

best overall Patriot running back: Curtis Martin

Curtis Martin, but someone you forgot who i think won rookie of the year at RB was Stephens. I could have the name wrong and cant remember his first. If someone can help me refresh my memory i would appreciate it. I think his name was John Stephens. I remember loving that guy. He had a short career though due to injuries if i remember right. This was back in the late 80's or early 90's.

I like this list, although I would switch Martin and Dillon, and replace James with Gash.

actually he did win offensive rookie of the year in 88 ( john Stephens)

A bunch of you guys remember Tony Collins as better than I do. I'd take Andy Johnson & Don Calhoun over TC.

For a single year you could make a case for Mini MacHerron

So funny how only 3 pats ever won rookie of the year award and one was John stephens, the only guy who didnt make anyones list.

martin was the best over a career.
dillon was the best during his brief time here.

pick one of those two.
