NFL cap projection is out, per Breer

Hopefully the patriots can snatch up jimmy graham from the cap heavy saints :rocker:

Miguel's UNOFFICIAL 2014 Patriots Salary Cap Information Page

So we will have 10.3 million in cap room, 13.6 million when we let go of Sopoaga. 14.2 million when we let go of Adrian Wilson. Those two are the only real easy cuts to gain cap space, as Gregory is too good of a safety to cut him for only 1.8 million IMO.

We could have 21.5 million in cap if we let go of Big Vince...(if he's not the same of course)

The good news, though, is that that $10.3M is with 51 players signed.

A question for Miguel: weren't there credits coming for Fanene and Lloyd in 2014?

Agreed. We're in really good shape it seems, and could of been in amazing shape if it weren't for the prisoner's 7.5 million cap hit. Extending Ninko earlier this year was a smart move.

With 14 million from two easy cuts, the Pats should be able to retain Edelman and Talib, extend McCourty, and get some help at DT. TE/OL in the draft and boom, the 2014 team is loaded come TC.

As someone posted in another thread, there's probably better odds of TFB leaving Gisele for Minitron.

As a not-so-minor point, McCourty's hit a bunch of escalators.

And, as I've noted elsewhere, they can save money by extending Gostkowski, too.

This team will be in amazing shape after cutting Wilson and Soap and if we can restructure Vince and Mankins. Hate to say it but there aren't a whole lot of players I would pay 10+ million for outside of a QB. Maybe Watt or Calvin.

Pats could potentially have north of $25 million in cap space if we get Mankins and Vince to take pay cuts. This would mean we could retain McCourty, Talib, and reconstruct our OL. Not gonna lie, the interior line has sucked. Mankins leaves a lot to be desired and at his age isnt worth the money he is making anymore. If we can get Mankin's cap hit down to around 5-6 million sign Mack from the Browns and get a stud Guard in rounds 2-3 of the draft I would be very excited:rocker::rocker:

Get gronk to restructure and it would be easy.

I'm shocked the pats didn't put a behavior clause in that killers contract.

Not that this isn't the case with TE/OL, but my priority in the draft would be DT actually. Vince and Kelly are both long in the tooth, and I'm not convinced any of the young guys are more than depth guys at best. Obviously TE is a need, even assuming Gronk comes back close to 100%, but I'd rather try to find vet help there, and go draft for both trenches.

My numbers already include those credits. Look at the bottom of the page.

One important point to note here is that, apparently, in order to use that method of recouping salary cap, they would have had to keep him on the inactive roster. In other words, the media would be writing about "Patriots TE" instead of "former Patriots TE."

Ahern's? Too late...

The higher the 2014 cap is the easier it becomes for the Saints to retain Graham.

Gronk has no reason to redo his deal. His 2014 salary is fully guaranteed and his 2015 salary is guaranteed for injury.

Miguel, Doesn't Gronk have some huge roster bonus sometime in the next couple of years. When is that and for how much. IIRC its like $8MM

The Pats have until the end of the 2015 league to pick up a 10 million option for the 2016 season. Please note that while the option is for the 2016 season salary cap rules require that the Pats account for $2 million on their 2015 cap.
