Twitter feeds: Nate Solder not spotted at practice

It's the first time Solder's missed the start of practice in his Patriots career.

Per the Twitter feed, he was in the locker room on Monday.

Some early practice reports are starting to filter in:

Christopher Price:

Solder and Dobson not present at start of Patriots practice. Sweats & shells in practice bubble. DJ Williams has a new number--45.

Jeff Howe:

Nate Solder is absent from practice. No known injury Sunday so that was unexpected. Dobson remains absent. Everyone else is present.

Pats practiced indoors today. Supposed to be 85 in Miami on Sunday.

Cannon (ankle), Dennard (court) and Bolden (not injury-related) all returned to practice today.

Solder was in the locker room Monday and there weren't any signs of injury, for what it's worth.

This is the first time Solder has missed a regular-season practice in his three-year career.

Solder played all 83 snaps against the Browns.

Field Yates:

Starting LT Nate Solder, WR Aaron Dobson not spotted at start of Patriots practice. OT Marcus Cannons returns; has been out since Week 11.

For those interested in jersey #'s: TE DJ Williams has switched from 86 to 45, the number he wore in college at Arkansas.

(In response to question asking 'Would free agent TE Visanthe Shiancoe be a serviceable pass catching option considering he was with the team before?'):
I think that ship has sailed. Not sure he's an upgrade over what they have.

Tom Curran:

Cannon returns to practice, Solder out | CSNNE.com

Marcus Cannon returned to practice for the first time since injuring his ankle Week 11. The good news on the right side of the offensive line was tempered by the absence of left tackle Nate Solder who was not at the media portion of practice.

The workout was held in the team's practice bubble. With the team headed to Miami, better to prepare in warm than cold.

Michael Hoomanawanui was on the field after missing Sunday. Aaron Dobson was not.

Re: Twitter feeds: Nate Solder not spotted at practice

Nate Solder better be a go no matter how bad he has played this year I don't think we have anybody to fill in. I really hope Marcus Cannon's ankle gets better soon we really need him for our Run Game we need to split one of these two Road games to atleast hold the Second spot. We cannot lose both of them Cinci have the tie breaker over us and they will probably lose one the rest of the way.

Re: Twitter feeds: Nate Solder not spotted at practice

We saw Spikes listed on the report for "non-injury" recently, and I suspect really what it is is giving vets some time to rest/recuperate. Maybe Solder's battling a little something and could use a day off. Certainly would explain the decline in his play recently.

One more tackle injury and I think you have to consider using Mankins at the position. We saw it for a play, but think in Solder's absence would need to be a switch. The question is, does it weaken you at two spots, but until we have depth at T again (Cannon), the answer is no.

So Cannon is back at RT and Svitek is at LT? Isn't Svitek also banged up, and Cannon is obviously on the mend? Man. Rough go at that position.

Pass protection may actually improve if he isn't able to go.

I'm only half-joking, of course. :(

Good Marcus Cannon and Kenbrell Thomkins back Great news we need a Big game from Thomkins. Hope Dobson is not flirting with some sorta IR injury. More opportunities for Josh Boyce to show that 4.3 speed.

He has been bad, Kontra. Frankly, I think the OL - while it has taken heat - has really gotten off the hook by all these comebacks, great 2 minute drills and the lethal quick passing game. As a unit, their play has been pretty consistently below the standard we've come to expect.

Especially in Gronk's absence, it's going to have to be about quick passing and getting the ball out. The good news is - ASSUMING Dobson and Thompkins return - we have WRs who can beat man coverage and make teams pay for coming up and trying to disrupt timing on the routes. More good news is that Brady's precision on outside touch throws to these young wideouts and to Vereen has gotten better and better as the year has gone on.

Who would've thought arguably one of the deepest spots on the roster by the end of the year would be WR?

Nothing about Thompkins in that report. is it because he's healthy?

Dobson has been in a walking boot. Wonder how bad it is

Hard to believe, but Solder has actually looked like he's regressed this year, as compared to 2011 and 2012. It will be interesting to see if anything comes out after this season is over on any injuries he may have sustained and may be playing through. But he's been anywhere from decent to awful on any given day. This past weekend really made me miss Matt Light. Solder was getting consistently abused in the first three quarters.

Wouldn't be surprised if Solder's absence is not injury related.

unfortunate that Dobson is missing playing time right when he started to click with Brady.

I hope he gets cleared to play the final couple games to get reps that will help us in the playoffs if this is not some sort of serious injury.

I'm sure there's one (or more) out there but, off the top of my head, I can't think of any Patriots player who's gotten more of a pass on poor play than Solder's getting this year.

Williams: "It’s like trying to pick up Spanish. You know this offense is very attractive, and if you found a very attractive Hispanic lady, you’d pick it up pretty quick."

Sounds good.

It seems as if he's having the most trouble with the outside pass rush. A footwork issue? LTs are LTs and not RTs (for a right handed QB) because they're supposed to be much faster on their feet.

Or maybe he went to Spain in the off season and bull fighting matadors eked into his subconscious. I dunno.

I think Solder is playing sorta like Light when he was getting killed here. For the most part he is playing solid protecting Brady's blind side, but there are one or two plays a game where he is completely out of place and lets someone by with ease. It probably happened more often this year than a typical year in Light's career, but I still think it is similar.

That said, Light got killed for being a turnstile for most of his career even though he was a solid to great LT for most of his career.

d%#*!@t. Josh McDaniels better coach up whoever is blocking in place of solder to not give up sacks this week
