Anyone watching this ? Buddy ryan ..wow...talk about locker room cancer....never knew all this happened.

The best part of the documentary was the footage of Joe Cool beating the oilers.

I wish that Oilers player hadn't got in Kevin Gilbrides way after Buddy whiffed on that punch. Would have loved to see Kevin Gilbridge clock him.

Amazing stuff. Thank you.

I can't IMAGINE something like that happening in today's NFL. Two big take aways I have from that:

1) Old Friend Mike Holovak was the GM! And Jack Pardee was the HC. No wonder there was no foot coming down on the Buddy Circus. You are talking two of the more "laissez faire" coach/management types ever to hit the NFL. Talk about a Perfect Storm!

2) The entire Ryan family is just a galloping strain of untreated mentally ill DNA.

This made me further understand why Rex and Rob are such obnoxious a-holes.

I wasn't able to watch the whole thing, but it seems amazing that Ryan was able to parlay that performance into a head coaching job.

Yup, he got most of the credit for that team in 1993 and ended up as the coach of the Cardinals. But just like in Philadelphia, he screwed with the QB and ended up getting kicked out after 2 years.

Those oilers teams were odd. Moon was a good QB who would light it up in the 1st half of games but go completely flat at times. Occasionally, the back up QB would come in a play great. That back up QB was Oliver Luck (Andrew Lucks father). The oilers eventually traded Moon and hoped that Oliver Luck would be the QB of the future but he honestly sucked as a starter.

No kidding. It was amazing to hear that Buddy would pull his defense off the field so the Oilers offense had nobody to practice against. What the hell was Pardee doing when that happened? This never was explained.

Was the 93 oilers the team that inexplicably blew a 35-3 third quarter lead against the Bills backup QB in the playoffs? Or maybe I'm thinking of 92....

That was '92. This is the story of the team the year after.

Currently watching the re-run on NFL network. I was living in Houston at that time and remember the season well. They suffered from the typical Houston malaise - lack of discipline and too much focus on their celebrations and press clippings.

Oliver Luck left the Oilers in 1986. 8 years before Moon was traded.

The back replaced moon was Cody Carlson.

Watching the show, I couldn't help but think that Buddy Ryan must have been an alcoholic and should have been charged with CUI: coaching under the influence.

so that's where rexxy gets it

Watching it now. Wow.

Can you imagine BB hearing criticism from a Pats player and responding with who is (that player)?

I remembered most it pretty well but had completely forgotten about Jeff Alm. Such a tragedy. I had also forgotten about David Williams and the controversy about him missing a game because his wife had a child the day before.

You would think Rex might have learned a lesson from dad and tone down the three ring circus. Rex is a good defensive mind but he wants to be a funny controversial quote machine like dear old dad vs being a winner.
