LB and Saftey is the big Draft need..

I know AD is a great addition and Stallworth would solidfy the Pats WR core.. But its a known fact, Harrison and Bruschi may have 1 more yr left. And we need not another Jermey Mincy, Eric Alexander, Dexter Reid type replacements.. I dont know much about Nelson, but if Patrick Willis is there at 20 we need to trade up.. They were talking about this on PFW in progress , we should consider trading up to get Levon Landry, who is the only sure bet at saftey... All I know is James Sanders is still a unknown, but I want a replacement for Rodney and Tedy in this draft..

In the draft, typically I think BB believes guys need to be developed and groomed over time, with free agency addressing immediate needs at LB

With that being said I think you see BB take an LB in the 3rd round or below - not before - but a S or CB earlier. WR won't be a high round priority this year.

It's free agency or not at all. There is much higher value at other positions in the early rounds, and we have greater needs. We need someone who can play now; otherwise, we play with what we have and wait for Jackson to add to the mix. Gaffney and Caldwell have a year of experience with Brady and the offense. We've added Welker. We tend to forget our #5 Kight who is a solid special teamer and is a four year player in this league.

LB
Top linebackers are worth more to 43 teams. We can't use a first or even a second for a player who might be able to compete in Year Three of their contract. I do like Carriker as our new McGinist, with either Thomas or Vrabel playing inside. But even he may not be ready for much action early.

DB's
We need a couple. The players should be there. We might have to move up. I'm a broken record, but I want a stud CB with our first pick (might need to move up) and Griffin with our second (or move down). I would be surprised to see all three Day One picks go to the secondary, although I would not be surprised to see a DE/OLB.

I'd love to see them focus on a top DB if one is available. That's one of the main positions where we always need more talent--of course I think many NFL teams could say the same things.

I always feel really good when I think of positions of need and what NE might draft. This team is set at so many spots. Yeah they can use help at WR, ILB, and DB. Where else? I'd have no problem with them drafting a LB even if it took them 2 years to groom the guy. They're gonna need to do it at some point or always rely on free agency (and how often to good ILBs become free agents?).

There is a reason people are drafted high....Talent.

Yes sometimes talent falls to lower rounds but we have been using that strategy for 6 years and havent developed any talent at inside LB yet...

Right now Gay is probably locked up for one year but not for sure; Samuel is locked up for one year but could force a trade; Wilson is in a contract year and not obviously a keeper; and Harrison is injury-prone.

That leaves Hobbs's position as the only solid one long term.

CBs even more than safeties, actually. We have two development guys at safety beyond the above and none and CB. Our vet backups -- Scott and Hawkins -- in aggregate are better at S than CB. And one needs more CBs than Ss anyway.

Agree here. CB is a huge need still. We might have a superbowl secondary this year but next year who knows. Need to look for talent there. LB + CB/S first round unless a Landry-esque player falls to 24(Then they take LB + S).

I'd be happy with a 1st round S & CB who the team feels can contribute this season. The secondary needs some depth.
