Jamal Lewis a Brown!

How do you figure that Frye has been terrible? The Browns offensive line was bad last year because of Bentley going down. Yet, Frye still completed over 64% of his passes. The Browns didn't have a running game to speak of.

Now, I know that Frye had 17 ints and only 10 TDs, but what does he have beyond Braylon Edwards? Kellen Winslow? That kid's been a bust. Joe Jurevicius didn't exactly light things up.

So, explain how Frye has been terrible?

The Browns consistently have one of the worst offenses in the league.

17 ints to 10 TDs? I'd call that terrible.

Yes, look at things in a vacuum. IGNORE the rest of the problems on offense and blame EVERYTHING on a 2nd year player.

Now, is that to say that Frye is FREE of blame? Nope. But there are bigger issues on the Browns than at QB and they'd be STUPID to draft Quinn when they have problems in their defense.

This could change around the whole top of the NFL Draft a lot.

I'm not sure it changes anything other than buying a year for a rookie to get established. If they got him for a cap-friendly deal, it's a good move. He's no longer a primary back, but will do well in a platoon situation.

When an offense is that bad a good deal of blame has to fall on the QB. And when you watch him play he just doesn't look good.

I'm not saying the Browns will draft Quinn, just that they certainly can't be happy with Frye's play to this point.

I think that the Browns O-line will be better. They added an extremely good player in Steinbach. The question will be what happenes at center. They need to get someone there to help improve that situation.
Well, we'll see. They have the same Center, the same overpriced LT, the same RG, the same RT - if he gets back healthy. And I just don't think Frye is very good. Whether the talk I've heard is true, I don't know, but there is definite talk they're quietly looking around.

Or, its got a very bad O-line, like the Browns did last year.

Actually, when I watched Frye play, he looked like a QB rushed because he had little faith in his O-line to keep the defense off him.

I don't know, it was Frye's 1st full year as a starter. Not sure how they could be disappointed unless their expectations were utterly unrealistic.

This is from a pay site so I'll just paste a small piece :

"Publicly, the Browns have shown nothing but support for homegrown quarterback Charlie Frye, although even that once rock-solid support has wobbled in recent months.

Privately, though, it’s turning into an entirely different ballgame.

At least, that’s the talk floating around various league circles.

Multiple sources from around the league—from agents to scouts to members of various front offices—have told The OBR that the Browns, in not so many words, have been quietly shopping Frye throughout this offseason. While one front office source wouldn’t go so far as to say that Frye was being actively shopped, he did say that at the very least, “it’s been made clear that Frye is available and can be had.”"

Maybe. Or they could release Droughns and go with a Peterson/Lewis combo. The one-two punch is trendy at the moment and Peterson/Lewis is as good as any other duo in the league.

What is the deal with Reuben Droughns? I always thought he was a pretty good running back. Is he washed up? hurt?

I think he got a DUI last summer and this past season wasn't his best. He ran for 738 yards with a paltry 3.4 YPC average, granted he missed a couple of games due to injury.

I'm not so sure that this is all that great of a move.

I dont' think running back was their problem. Reuben Droughns is a quality back. He just didn't have the help around him. I can't imagine that Jamal Lewis will fare any better than Droughns.

I have all the respect for Romeo...He is in a bad situtions...Cleveland needs alot of help...J. Lewis isn't going to amount to much...They need a impact player....I don't think Romeo has the time to do it right, like building OL&DL....Good luck Romeo...

The RG is brand new in Eric Steinbach. Fraley, while he is returning, came in at the end of TC and had to learn a whole new offense. The LG is Joe Andruzzi and he's still very good. I agree that Tucker is over-priced and has injury issues.

They are talking about moving Shaffer to RT. And yes, I agree he seems to be over-rated, though I don't know how many sacks he allowed last year. (Need to copy my Stats Inc link to my work laptop.)

Tucker and Andruzzi both missed games last year. Only Shaffer and Fraley played in all 16 games.

That is a lot of upheavel on a line with a relatively young QB. Makes it a LOT harder for him to accomplish anything.

Honestly, Gaines Adams is the way to go. Him or Joe Thomas.

I don't know how you can write Winslow off like that, he had 89 receptions this past year. I don't watch a lot of Browns' football, but to me Jurevicious wasn't used very much at all. I saw the Browns/Steelers stinker on NFL Network and Jurevicious was the only player that was consistently getting open for the Browns, without him their offense would have been even worse that game.

What happened to Droughns? Did he just get lazy and content with his nice payday after becoming the first Browns' RB to rush for over 1000 yards in something like 20 years? It's really a bummer about what has happened to LeCharles Bentley, and I think Crennel has gotten some really lousy luck since joining the Browns.

Unfortunately for Romeo, Lewis is shot. He'll do nothing but keep a struggling running game struggling. They have a couple of good young weapons in the passing game with Winslow and Edwards but don't have QB.

The Browns really have made no progress in the Savage/Romeo era and unless they have an unlikely turnaround this year I'd expect a change at the top.

OK, same LG.

Dude . . . "Andruzzi is still very good" ???? His knees are shot. And he was never "very good". He was solid and reliable. He's done now.

W/regard to Tucker, I was referring to Kevin Schaeffer at LT who they paid a lot of money to 12 months ago but isn't that good.

Steinbach will be the only above average player on their OL, their TE isn't much of a blocker and no-one is scared of the passing game. That's a problem when trying to run the ball.

Weiss will convince RC to take Quinn.

It's Savage he has to convince. Me ? I'd take him as long as they have him rated high - of all team's fans, we should know what a difference a top QB makes.

funny thing is, Cleveland fans, from reading there message boards think that they are some kind of contender with this signing.

I can't even imagine what it's been like to be a Brown's fan,so cut them some slack and let them enjoy it.

WOW. Andruzzi was never very good? Guess we have very different views of what is very good. While Andruzzi was here, he was the glue that held the Pats line together. He played hurt regularly.

Shaffer and Tucker are both over-priced. I agree.

However, you do prove my point for me. You rag on the line and point out how bad they are, in your eyes. Yet, you trip and say that having a different QB will change that. It won't . Quinn will have no more success than Frye did if they don't improve the O-line more.
