Ever since our win over the Broncos their fans have done nothing but obsess over it. At the beginning of the season no Broncos fan considered us a threat. Some were saying we wouldn't even make the playoffs. Now it's almost unanimous - they all consider us their biggest threat. Not only that but they are comparing their comeback against the Chiefs to our comeback against them, and they are constantly bringing up how Peyton and the receiving corps needs to play better in cold weather.

The turnaround in their attitude towards us has been very amusing to witness.

Can you blame them? They were given a small taste of how we felt watching that 06 championship game where we led 21-6 at half time and lost. They should be thankful it wasn't a playoff game.

This probaly is OT and I didn't see the game, but the boxscore for Denver-KC loks suspiciously like stat whoring.

Moreno rushes for another 120 and his only TD is on a 1 yard pass from Manning?

Still not fully over that game...

The Broncos fans have been obsessed since their team hasn't be able to beat the Patriots in their last four attempts. In addition to that, since Fox has been the head coach, Brady and Patriots have shredded their defense to the tune of averaging 37.75 points per game against them.

That type of dominance has them seeing ghosts wondering if they'll ever beat the Patriots.

They're Colts fans circa 01-06 then.

The Broncos used to be the team we could not beat - then they got Tebow and followed that up with Manning. Now, the Broncos are the team, we look forward to meeting - home or away. Manning is the gift that keeps on giving.

Welker or Manning did not play up to their potentials in that last game. If they get another chance, I would not expect the same performance.

Julius Thomas didnt play in Foxboro. He has 10 tds and has become a favorite target of Manning.

If the Pats and Broncos face off in Denver for the AFCC, dont expect 6 degrees and 20 mph winds.

I agree. If we meet them donkeys in the playoffs (and it will most likely be at Denver), the outcome will not be the same. :(

Just MHO

I'm not buying this

I think the pats still have more improving to do, where it appears that the broncos prospects now rest on moreno's shoulders more than mannings, and he's beat up

It's a cold comfort to think that the Pats need not spot them 20 points in the first quarter like last game. I know turnovers count and all, but it's easy to imagine them not happening next time and the Pats keeping a lead instead of needing a historic comeback.

well this coming weekend is an interesting test. Temps of 20 degrees, mild wind at denver facing the somewhat scrappy Titans.

Considering the recent results, it would be unusual if their fan base was not obsessing over the Patriots. They have now lost four in a row and five of their last six against the Pats, and before every one of those games they felt very confident that they would win.

Oct 20, 2008: Pats favored by 3
New England was favored by 3 at home, which means the two clubs were considered to be even. With no Tom Brady the Denver fans had high expectations for a win; the 4-2 Broncos had won five of their previous six games in Foxborough and the 3-2 Pats had been inconsistent all year. The Patriots forced five turnovers in front of a national (MNF) audience and opened up a 34-0 lead before Denver finally scored in garbage time; final score: 41-7.

Oct 11, 2009: Pats favored by 3
To rub salt into the wound, the last time Denver beat the Patriots they were coached by Josh McDaniels, a guy they ran out of town who is now working for the enemy (i.e., the Pats). Denver wins 20-17 in OT to advance to 5-0; after winning the following week they would finish the season 2-8. Every time they see McDaniels it is a reminder of a season they would prefer to forget.

Dec 18, 2011: Pats favored by 7½
This game was played at what was possibly the height of Tebowmania, as the Broncos entered the game on a six-game winning streak. Denver scored on their first three possessions, only to have the rug pulled out from under them after that. It's not just that they lost; it was that with that 16-7 lead early already high hopes reached a crescendo, and then came crashing to a shattering reality of a 41-23 loss.

Jan 14, 2012: Pats favored by 13½ (playoffs)
Although Denver was a huge underdog, their fans were full of confidence. Tebowmania was in full effect as they had just upset Pittsburgh in overtime the previous week. Their fan base was fully convinced that destiny was on their side and that they would win this game. A 45-10 loss put an indelible bruise on their collective psyche.

Oct 7, 2012: Pats favored by 6
Both teams were 2-2, so although the Pats were favored the Denver fans felt good about their chances as they now had Peyton Manning at QB - and the Pats were seen as being vulnerable having just lost back-to-back games to Arizona and Baltimore. The Patriots ran for 251 yards and jumped out to a 31-7 lead, but two late Denver touchdowns gave them hope for the next time with a relatively close 31-21 final score.

Nov 24, 2013: Broncos favored by 2½
Broncos enter the game 9-1, and all season long the biggest on-field topic of discussion nationally has been about how unstoppable Denver is. At halftime the Broncos are celebrating about not only defeating the Pats, but recalling 'call in the national guard' comments from a generation ago. From now until the next meeting, whenever they hear the word 'Patriots' it will remind them of losing a 24-point lead in front of a national audience, 34-31 in overtime.

I agree that it won't be the same result, because we won't spot them a 17-0 lead this time, and we won't need OT to beat them.

Their receivers are soft and their secondary is very weak. No way they win more than 1 game in the playoffs.

Not all fanbases are as level-headed and even-keeled as we are...

says the guy who will never again peek at a gameday thread.

I thought Manning would retire after last year's playoff run. He looks really amazing indoors and in fair weather, but very old when it gets cold. PM looked pretty old in the second half of that game and that is what should have Denver fans concerned. Tom Terrific, on the other hand, looked great. If you are thinking about a rematch in January, you have to feel like the Pats have the upper hand.

Unless the Patriots figure out a way to tighten up on defense I'm not sold on how far they can go into the playoffs. This has been the team's achilles heel in the last several SB & playoff losses more so than the offensive woes. Denver was without Thomas and I believe he creates serious mismatches for the Pats in addition to the weapons they already have. Also, its very difficult to get acclimated to the altitude in Denver. That's not something you can practice for in Foxboro. I know its one game on any given Sunday but I would prefer this game if it came down to it, to be at home as would anyone else.

I think the defense did enough in all of those games for the Pats to win. The O didn't show up and choked at all the wrong times. Pats didn't score in the second half in the last AFCCG. They barely scored in SB42 until the end and choked when trying to ice the last SB they were in.

Off-topic, but If CJ is Megatron and JE is Minitron then Cooper made Decker look like God-tron. I'm trying to remember watching a corner get so abused and embarrassed and still get no help.

Cold slows him down, but a strong wind turns Manning into an average QB at best, and right now he is the Bronco's. Denver fans have a right to be concerned, because while they can beat pretty much anyone when Manning is on, they are a really mediocre team if it gets nasty out, and there is a very real possibility they will have to deal with bad weather to get through the play-offs to the promised land. Whether or not they can get past a good team in bad weather remains to be seen, and I'm sure that stresses everyone around the Bronco's big time. Peyton can no longer go dome to dome or dome to a beautiful warm city for the Super Bowl, he has to go through NYC, and in all honesty his brother would have much better chance of winning in those circumstances, even though Peyton is the better QB overall.
