Do you even respect Peyton Manning?

Top 15 is a lot more reasonable. I can respect him as a top 15 quarterback.
Raise the bar to top 2 or even 5 and... just... no.

I have him between #9 and #15.

And I definitely don't respect him in the sense that I worry about any games we play with them. Simply a matter of not believing the hype.

That's ridiculous. It's one thing to recognize that he's capable of spitting the bit in big games. It's another thing to ignore that he's also fully capable of beating any team, any time.

I'm convinced that Peyton is scared of us, of Brady, of Belichick's defense scheming, and I also think he dwells on the Brady v Manning hype every single game. He plays us scared and I don't fear scared quarterbacks.

What is now 10-4 is in his head and set up tent. It's been that way since our dynasty years.

I believe Peyton is worried about his legacy, knows every loss he eats to Tom contributes to it further, and plays nervous and timid and weak every time because of it.

He plays with an inferiority complex.

I don't fear Peyton.

he should be happy the nfl gave him that afcc in 06 or it would be REALLY bad ;)

You're a closet Denver fan. This is the same exact dumb argument Bronco fans use despite the fact that the PATRIOTS buried the Broncos so hard Peyton stole our offense afterwards for this season.

In their deranged little minds, the Ravens beating us by more than they beat them erases the fact that WE buried the Broncos in head to head and makes Denver the better team.

Be a little more transparent about the fact that you're a trolling Bronco fan why don't you.

It's funny how it took Bronco fans about a day after signing Peyton to adopt all the backwards bizzaro-world logic that Colts fans used to make excuses for themselves for years.

lol. never heard that before. i'm a brady fan since 98. i'm a michigan grad. i was sophomore when he was a senior. i took few classes with him. and i became pats bandwagon fan since our first SB.

bottom line, i respect peyton manning like most of knowledgeable football fans do. comparing tebow to peyton is a blasphemy if you know a thing or two about football. and my logic stands. in the history of denver broncos football they've never won back to back 13 games in their franchise history.

i used to hate his guts just like you. up until 2007, it was all about peyton. brady was just the guy who wins with no stats. hated all those media thinking he is better than brady.

but i have now tremendous respect for him because now i can take off my homer glasses off and see the greatness in him. i have repeatedly said that he is no brady. he isn't. but he is still one of the greatest of all time.

'do you even respect peyton manning' that's just screams 'i'm a blind homer with no football knowledge'. that's a big slap in the face of this great rivalry.

we are his kryptonite. we are on teams heads almost always. not just peyton, but all teams. that's what happens when you have the GOAT QB and 2nd GOAT coach playing together for a decade+

Btw in spite of Manning's lack of success in the playoffs, he is 2nd all time in wins that counts for a lot. In my mind he ends up ahead of Farve & Marino when all is said and done.

I think he already is.

He also holds the record for most playoff losses.

Nice stat. I believe TFB is tied for the most, is he not?

My bad.
He is alone with the most playoff wins in history, one ahead of Montana.
He is also the alltime postseason leader in pass attempts, completions, and passing yards and needs 4 TDs to pass Montana at #1.
He is also tied for most playoff games started as a QB, which he will of course break this year.

hope brady wins 4-5 more. if he does that i think the record will be unbreakable.
Another 4-5 Super Bowls for Brady does seem selfish, but I'm willing to partake. :p

What sucks is after 2004 a lot of us thought he might do just that.

i was talking about 4-5 more playoff wins. 22-23 playoff wins would be unbreakable record

A few points fundamental to sports & sportsmanship ...

1. You damn well better respect ALL of your opponents. Otherwise you've got a giant helping of Humble Pie on its way.

2. Everyone who makes it onto any NFL team, in any capacity, has shown himself to be "elite" & worthy of respect. Do you think that the MVP of Superbowl 48, one of the most accomplished QBs in the league (Russell Wilson) "can't respect" an undrafted, rookie free agent cornerback, who never got to play for a Div I team, and currently earns the "league minimum", less than 1/50th of Wilson's own salary?

3. Peyton's career achievements have earned him huge amounts of respect.

4. Every single time you denigrate an opponent, you also denigrate any/all victories over them.

5. "Respect" is NOT the same thing as "fear".

6. Do you think that Larry Bird didn't respect Magic Johnson, even when the Celtics carried a decisive edge in wins over the Lakers? Do you think that Bill Russell didn't respect Wilt Chamberlin, even tho Russ owned Wilt on the court?

7. There is someone who has a unique insight into Peyton's football skills: Tom Brady. Do you think that TB doesn't respect Peyton? You don't have to guess. TB has expressed himself very clearly on this subject. Perhaps you ought to give TB's opinion on the matter a little more weight.

8. Respecting others does NOT demean yourself. It's exactly the opposite. ALL people who are worthy of respect, GIVE respect at every opportunity.

It used to be called "sportsmanship".

Here's a suggestion: Try it on for size. For, say, a year.
Try to look at everyone around you, & find reasons to respect them. And then express it to them.
Cops, soldiers, teachers, doctors (yeah, they're easy) ... but also waitresses, school crossing guards & the guys who pick up the trash. Do you know where you'd be without them?

The guy that will have earned (& will get) the most increase in respect from others as a result of this experiment: You.

Just my $0.02 worth...

Necroing threads that are more than a year old.

Most likely due to a google keyword search for an opinion that you disagree with.

Awesome.

Guess it is time for me to once again lock ancient threads that died long ago.
