Do you even respect Peyton Manning?

idiots like you make us look bad. i see that you go around other boards and bad mouthing peyton to pimp brady. no wonder why everybody hates us.

and you are completely discrediting his regular season greatness. and last time i checked denver isn't a dome. he put up same numbers if not better as a non domer. he is putting 07 brady number after 4 neck surgeries and he is old as f34uck. and last time i checked broncos are 9-2. yes, we have his number. but there is no shame in that. we are friggin pats.

you have to admit he instantly changes any team to a contender. if you don't admit that, you are just nothing but a troll. put peyton manning to Jags jags become a playoff team instantly. put Joe friggin flacco there. jags are 4-12 at best.

and stats do matter. if brady didn't compile all those stats, he would not have been top 10. he would not have won 2 mvps. he would not have been compared to other greats. he would be regarded as this era's troy aikman - A GAME MANAGER who plays well in the 4th qtr.

Exactly what makes someone a "game manager" as opposed to a non-game manager?

If you're going to use the term you ought to be able to define it.

EXACTLY what makes someone a "game manager" as opposed to a non-game manager?

In my experience that is entirely dependant on the person making the comment.

Personally, I respect the hell out of P.Manning, even if we've had his number over the years. He's definitely one of the greatest QB's in the history of the game.

My biggest beef/pet peeve is that there seem to be so many mediots and your "typical" uneducated fan who continues to pound the drum on the Manning vs. Brady debate. If it hasn't sunk in by now, then they are obviously just incredibly biased and will never fully believe the truth.

Just the fact of 5 SB's vs 2 (3 rings vs 1) alone pretty much tells the story, along with the 10-4 Brady vs. Manning edge, but there are many, many more stats and points that people just don't want to buy into. That is what I can't stand about Peyton Manning. Other than that, I think he's clearly the #2 QB of our generation and that he's a pretty nice guy to boot. It's hard to dislike a guy like that who is friends with Brady and had such nice things to say when he was injured etc.

I agree with most of this, but I think the "nice guy" thing is as much a result of his ego as an actual personality trait. He knows that being thought of as a nice guy further elevates him in the eyes of the people so he says the things that make him appear to be one. But a true nice guy doesn't throw everyone and anyone under the bus when he can't get the job done, and we all know Peyton does that regularly.

Having said that, I don't hate Peyton, I do respect him and I think he is the second best QB of his generation which is nothing to sneeze at.

No, everyone hates us because we've wrapped 40 point wins around their throats over and over again for over a decade. Don't let that postpone your apology tour, though.

If Brady didn't throw a bunch of touchdowns he would be considered a game-manager? LOL Ya, and if he didn't win all those rings he wouldn't be considered GOAT, and if he didn't have any legs, he wouldn't be a football player.

Troll.

Denver was a play off team with TIM TEBOW. Peyton Manning didn't instantly make them a damn thing.

Keep gurgling the kool aid.

tebow and denver was .500 team. peyton last year won 13. this year most likely 13 or 14.

so yes, peyton instantly make them a damn thing.

Yeah, and the AFC West was absolutely pathetic last year. What did Kansas City win all year? 2 games? Raiders win about 5? Chargers maybe six?

This is why the regular season doesn't matter.

This is why his post season record is so damning.

This is what happens against the good football teams - the play off teams.

Glad you're so impressed with what he can do against the scrubs

Tebow and Denver was 7-4, Tebow and Orton was 1-4. Tebow was .636, not .500. Tebow was .500 in the playoffs, Peyton was .000 in the playoffs with Denver.

Well, since Manning arrived they have a losing record against teams with a winning record.
And he has transformed them into a team that hasn't won a playoff game.

The "Do you even respect Peyton Manning" thread is the number one thread on patsfans. Clearly plenty of people including the OP respect Manning enough to care about it.

we all know he struggles in the playoffs. his team isn't built for playoffs most of the time. that's the downfall of peyton's greatness. but at the end of the day he does have 9 playoff wins with respectable 88QB ratings 32tds/21ints with 63%. and he did take his team to 2 SBs. that's no easy task.

nobody here is saying he is brady. no one is. i honestly don't think montana is close to what brady has accomplished. Brady is on a different level when it comes to overall total package. but brady did have many bad games in the playoffs. struggling against the chargers, losing to jets, losing 2 SBs, losing to ravens. even the great Brady had his downs. nobody is perfect. peyton just have more downs in the playoffs then other greats, but his on field ability and his regular season greatness makes up for it.

let's not act like peyton is some sort of scrub because he isn't. and when you do that it just screams a troll.

Now you note the 2 Super Bowl losses. Remember, in 07 he drove them down to take the lead with not alot of time left. I can't fault him for giving this team the lead in the last couple minutes and his defense gives up the game winning drive. 2011 Super Bowl. He is driving them down again with only a few minutes left in the game. He puts the pass where welker can catch, and we all know what happened. Brady was almost flawless that game, and he took time off and put is in position to win. Sure Brady could have done more, but he put the team in every Super Bowl he has played in a chance to win or winning it.

Now manning is a great QB, but he could never get it done. He had a better D than New England even in the early 2000's. manning will always be known as the guy that shrinks in the big game, and Brady basically shines.

at the end of the day he won 13 games last year most likely at least 13 this year. that's not an easy task. this is an NFL.

and they lost to a SB champ. and they clownstomped us last year. we couldn't even score on them in the 2nd half. so if you guys are gonna crap on peyton's performance than you gotta do the same to brady.

i'm not gonna blame on brady on those 2SB losses. brady did play good enough. but he wasn't great.

and i'm not gonna close the chapter on peyton. he may very well win another SB before he hangs it up. even if that happens I would never put peyton above brady. but i'm sure some will. and he will no doubt have at least 5mvps. he already won this year's mvp. i don't care how you slice it that's no easy task.

at the end of the day i see brady being #1 and peyton #2. that's just me. and this argument will never be over. it's like republican vs. democrats. some just made their mind that peyton is better. it will never end. that's why this is the greatest football rivalry of all time.

I understand what you're saying. But for Peyton, early playoff exits are such a common thing when his team is always the favorite going in. Cold windy games also. It just doesn't match his regular season record so it stands out like a sore thumb. You can't ignore it. Even the Denver fans will probably admit that now.
I think he can change that. He's got a great team around him at the moment. Having the weather on the warmer side with no wind goes a long way for the guy. His wobblers won't hang in the air as long.
Physically Peyton is so lacking right now. Can't move, can't throw well in conditions, is not physically imposing. The preparation and the mental side is so great but I don't see it making up for all the others. You're paying a guy 19 million a year who cannot improvise when plays break down. In the playoffs, there is always something unexpected, the defensive intensity is up a notch. It's possible, but I wouldn't have great confidence that Peyton will take you all the way at his age. He's a guy where it all has to line up perfect for him.

Peyton is great and I love to bash him just cuz, but I couldn't let the defense part go. They had one of the worst defenses I have ever seen in my life in the early 2000s. They had a pass rush and that was all. EVERYBODY could run on them at will. Garbage secondary. I wondered how the hell Jason David was a starter in the league. Peyton scored so fast that it made it seem not so bad, but some of their defenses made our 2011 d look like the 85 bears. The redskins D this year reminds me of those colt defenses.

It got dramatically better after they blew up their secondary and that is when they started to have more success against us. They let David go to the saints, got cb jackson and hayden along with safeties bethea/sanders. They still sucked but it was a night and day difference to me anyway.

he might lose again this year. let's face it. he probably have the weakest arm in the NFL. that's what happens when you are old as @#$#ck with 4 neck surgeries. on top of that he doesn't throw spirals.

denver fans should pray for a good weather.

but i just doubt he will retire anytime soon. he will have 1 or 2 more deep playoff run IMO.

Colts? I saw NE from 2000-2012 had an average of 18th ranked D. Colts in that span, 17th ranked. Peyton had the number 1 in 2007. Peyton's D carried him in 2006 and always kept him in playoff games if you look. Peyton just couldn't do it on the big stage. Just couldn't man.

Brady now had a good D too, but they also needed Brady to do his part.

I edited my last one a bit. We probably agree on a lot. Just not the last sentence. But you could be right because it is possible. Especially cause they have a really good team . But I'm biased as heck against the guy

ultimately it's a team game. elway had a choker tag too. he couldn't get it done in the big stage. with all that heroic comebacks he had, he still lost 3SBs and people start calling him a choker. but when he finally got a good balanced team around him with a beastly oline and RB, he won 2SBs as a game manager. he managed the game well. denver needs to be more run oriented and save peyton's arm. just like last year, the wheel may fall off anytime soon.

i could careless peyton wins more SBs. i just wish brady wins 1 more.

Nothing personal against Peyton Manning. However, Tim Tebow helped lead his team to the Playoffs and won. While Peyton helped lead his team to the Playoffs and loss.

With that being said I have lots of respect for Peyton. He's an excellent QB.
