Do you even respect Peyton Manning?

I don't follow the NFL to evaluate the character of players. There's a lot of bad eggs in the NFL. I figured this question pertained more towards respecting him as a player? But if y'all insist we dig in to his college misdeeds, have at it.

Yeah, and what's so great about his NFL career that warrants all the media coddling that DIRECTLY leads to all the ignorant fan worship?

Look how much crap Tony Romo gets when he has the misfortune of playing for Jerry Jones with no offensive line, no defense, and no help. The media could EASILY treat Peyton Manning the EXACT same way but because he's the American equivalent of the British Crown the entire world gets thrown overboard to protect his fake-image as a GOAT.

As a result of that, you get the kind of replies seen in this thread, full of apologists from the fans of his most hated NFL rival.

Crappy person IRL.
Crappy attitude on the field.
Crappy attitude at press conferences after a loss.
Crappy QB play in big games.

Don't mention any of this to Gillette's wine & cheese crowd though.

Putting words on an image doesn't constitute making a point, FYI.

Peyton Manning, for all of his issues in the post season, is a top 10 all time QB. Anyone who says otherwise has ******* lost the goddamn plot.

Top 10 at stat-compiling, sure.
I'd take Big Ben over Peyton if I were building a football organization.
So would most sane people that aren't interesting in just blowing out the Jaguars and Titans in September, or scoring 7 touchdowns in the season opener.

...and yet... Ben isn't a top 10 all time quarterback.

I'd definitely take a young Favre over Peyton.

I'd take Flacco over Peyton.

I'd take Andrew Luck over a 20 year old Peyton and Luck hasn't even sniffed an all time QB list.

So top 10 at stat-compiling in a dome against a bunch of JAGs in the AFC South, sure.

Since we're giving out worthless awards, he's also the GOAT at getting undeserved praise. #1 all time.

Re: OT-Reddit Peyton Manning fan loses bet

Now I have to figure out what Reddit is:confused::confused:

it's an interesting question, and when I started thinking about it. I have a hard time with where to put Manning all time also. Looking at top QB's all time

1 & 2 are Brady & Montana (although not sure in which order)
Elway
Marino
Unitas
Bob Griese
Bart Starr
Staubach
Steve Young
Troy Aikman
Dan Fouts was a great QB
Jim Kelly
maybe Joe Theisman
haven't mentioned Danny White, Ken Stabler or Terry Bradshaw

I'd take all of the above over Manning.

Peyton felt the need to smear this girl again years later in his book. So the smear campaign came years later (as a pro, and not when Peyton was in college) and reopened the debate on what happened that day. Peyton could have let it go. The book came out after he was in the league a few years. He could have let it go but my guess is his arrogance got the best of him and he had to pay this woman for publishing a false story about her and that incident. That's the reason the cross country runner wrote that deposition admonishing Peyton. Years later, the witnesses testimony all backed what the girl said. So looks like he did the deed as a college player but then lied about it while he was the pros.
Nearly everyone has skeletons in their closet. But do we write a book trying to lie about it and rewrite history? That takes some bigtime arrogance IMO. And that other witness called him out on it.
So my answer is no, I do not respect him.

How the hell did I not spot this?

that's some seriously funny **** right there.

Yep, I laughed my ass off.

idiots like you make us look bad. i see that you go around other boards and bad mouthing peyton to pimp brady. no wonder why everybody hates us.

and you are completely discrediting his regular season greatness. and last time i checked denver isn't a dome. he put up same numbers if not better as a non domer. he is putting 07 brady number after 4 neck surgeries and he is old as f34uck. and last time i checked broncos are 9-2. yes, we have his number. but there is no shame in that. we are friggin pats.

you have to admit he instantly changes any team to a contender. if you don't admit that, you are just nothing but a troll. put peyton manning to Jags jags become a playoff team instantly. put Joe friggin flacco there. jags are 4-12 at best.

and stats do matter. if brady didn't compile all those stats, he would not have been top 10. he would not have won 2 mvps. he would not have been compared to other greats. he would be regarded as this era's troy aikman - A GAME MANAGER who plays well in the 4th qtr.

That's a ridiculous list, here is a better one
1. Brady
2. Manning
3. Montana
4. Rodgers (yes he's that good already)
5. Elway
6. Marino
7. Brees
8. Staubach
9. Young
10. Fouts

I respect him a ton. That view is decoupled from any views of Tom Brady, any comparison between the two or any other all-time great QB.

Regards,
Chris

P.S. 2004 called. They want their thread back.

I remember that being talked about near a decade ago. That discredits all of Manning's achievements though...:bricks:

I dont think that is the point he is trying to make. I think he is saying that prevents him from being respected in that posters view.

Come on. Thats just crazy.

Any list of the best QBs ever has to be heavily made up of QBs from the past 30 years because the role of the QB has been much greater.
You cant really compare QB of the 60s and 70s who threw 15-20 times a game to those that throw 40 times a game. It doesn't eliminate them but must be considered.
So here is my top 10.

1) Montana. This one isn't even debatable until Brady gets his 4th ring. Montana has 4 and Montana is far and away the biggest reason they won them.
2) Brady. The 4th ring would make him #1 on my list.
3) Unitas. Here you have a QB who did throw a lot in an era where most teams didn't. If you compare all QBs to their peers at the time they played Unitas stands out.
4) Graham. Again, the era and style of play must be considered, but he won like no one ever has.
5-10 is very, very tough to rank, and the order is very debatable.
5) Elway. 2 rings and led a flawed team to many AFCCGs and won many of them.
6) Aikman. Usually gets overlooked because the Cowboys had a strong running game, but he has 3 rings and he was as good as any QB at his peak.
7) Bradshaw. Can't put him and his 4 rings higher because he doesn't have all 4 without that dominant D. Cant justify putting 4 rings any lower though.
8) Manning. The ring puts him ahead of Marino.
9) Favre. Most people would have him higher on their own lists than he is if he had just retired in his late 30s and not become a circus side show.
10) Marino. Revolutionized the passing game ahead of its time.
Fouts would be one step behind Marino
Starr was a tough omission

LMAO Theisman and Stabler over Manning, ok well thanks for letting me know I never need to pay attention to your ridiculous posts.

Warren Moon should be near or on a top 10 QB list. Criminally underrated.

No, everyone hates us because we've wrapped 40 point wins around their throats over and over again for over a decade. Don't let that postpone your apology tour, though.

If Brady didn't throw a bunch of touchdowns he would be considered a game-manager? LOL Ya, and if he didn't win all those rings he wouldn't be considered GOAT, and if he didn't have any legs, he wouldn't be a football player.

Troll.

Denver was a play off team with TIM TEBOW. Peyton Manning didn't instantly make them a damn thing.

Keep gurgling the kool aid.

I've watched Montana play and he is great, but Brady is #1.

There are 2 guys who should make this list. Aaron Rodgers and Drew Brees.

Warren Moon should be near or on a top 10 QB list. Criminally underrated.

I don't have Moon nearly that high. He compiled a lot of stats without winning. Vinny Testaverde and Drew Bledsoe did also.

Brady needs the 4th ring to surpass Montana. He edges him out in many other ways, but that 4th ring is the gold standard.
