Squealers' Coach Tomlin Cheats to Prevent TD

Somewhere, Sam Alosi is shaking his head.

Imagine the outcry if Bill did that.

It would be pretty bad.

This is worse than the Jets tripgate thing I think.
They were not on the field like Tomlin is.

There should be a heavy fine and penalty for this.

$500k fine, loss of draft pick, Super Bowls questioned...

Thank god hordes of ****** morons have never done that before...

Def. should have been a penalty resulting in a touchdown. Also Tomlin should have been fined, especially because of the way he reacted after it happened (smirking and laughing about it on national TV).

It also makes me mad just because of which refereeing crew it was. I've been seeing articles about Brady's "temper tantrum" during the Denver game. To me, his getting so mad at an obvious missed PI call that it forces his team to take a timeout is proof that he thinks the bear hug on Gronk the previous week+calls in the Denver game were deliberate efforts to screw the Pats by the refs.

What would the penalty even be? 15yds or an automatic touchdown or something? Weird play.

Automatic TD I believe...

Yeah, but he still lost the game because of his kicker. Karma, baby!

Would have been funny if the ravens lost because of it. Just send them gifs of the missed fg to win it and the 4th and 27 play they got 26 yards on and tell them to deal with it.

I despise just about everything to do with the Steelers, but I have a hard time believing this was intentional and it's an enormous stretch to call it "cheating".

Still should have been a flag, and even a TD awarded. League will probably hit him with a well deserved fine. You can't have guys wandering around like that and not paying attention to where they're standing.

It's only an automatic TD if it's a "palpably unfair" act that could have prevented a TD from being scored. Being on the field is IIRC only a 15-yard flag otherwise.

I think the "palpably unfair" rule is in place to prevent another incident like the Tommy Lewis "tackle".

Still think the league needs to send a message so these guys pay attention to where they're standing relative to the field of play.

It was called last week on (I forget now) as a team "unsportsmanlike conduct" and awarded 15 yards tacked on the end of the play. I watched that yesterday but could not hear it and was interested in Tomlin's smirk. Glad it was brought up here.

Wouldn't be surprised if they started doing automatic 15yds for being on whiteline during gameplay.

So, just to check: Your take is that a generally intelligent head coach of a team kicking to one of the most dangerous returners in the game decided to decide to turn his head — his entire body — away from the play and somehow just happened to be standing on the white line and just happened to be looking up at the play live on the jumbotron and just happened to drift toward the returner's path as he approach him?

I don't really care if anyone cheats against the Ravens, who won a Super Bowl entirely because of pass interference calls and generous ball spots.
