Joe Flacco rips Baltimore Ravens use of Wildcat offense - ESPN

Flacco didn't hide his dislike of the Wildcat when he lined up at wide receiver. He was so disinterested, he kept his hands in his front pouch and barely moved off the line after the ball was snapped.
"I'm not doing a single thing," Flacco said about splitting out wide. "I'm not blocking. I'm not doing anything."

Could you imagine TB ever saying or doing such a thing given his competitive nature and his respect for BB??

Agreed that it is a pretty crazy supposition that BB (with his respect for Brady) would be silly enough to run the wildcat with someone else at QB on a ROUTINE basis.

But BB has run flea-flickers with TB going out for a pass on at least 3 occasions that I recall (although I believe all the plays started play w/ TB under/behind center and not lined up as a wr)..... & TB has not shyed away from doing his part on those plays.

So, pretty self-centered on Flacco's part to both publicly put-down his coach's judgement (in effect) and not try to pull his guy/keep him out of the play by at least doing something.

On the other hand, it could be a deliberate setup for later on in the year. Watch out for it: if some game when the Ravens are desperate & the shadow man (CB) plays off him; Flacco might actually take his hands out of the warmer and go deep.

On the flip side. They could have locked him up a lot cheaper the year before for the sake of a couple of million over 5 years.
Not saying Flacco is right. But Ozzie clearly dropped the ball.

If I were the OC of the Ravens, I'd have had a face to face meeting with Flacco asap after reading this. It's one thing to think it, it's another to verbalize it to the media. What nerve. Also, if Harbaugh let this infant get away with this, he's a f****** eunuch.

I read that and thought the same. It's a little weird to critique or state aversions to an offensive play call publicly. Say it all you want behind closed doors to the offensive coordinator.

I would also agree marquee offensive players should not be placed in a position to take unnecessary hits, and the wildcat does just that. But Flacco isn't the OC, so complain to that guy rather than the media.

It isnt just "AIRING" it to the media; I mean the reason it got aired is because the media SAW HIM STANDING THERE ACTING DISINTERESTED WHILE A PLAY WAS GOING ON; so they asked him about it.

So It is actually NOT PARTICIPATING in a play that the OC called while one of the 11 on the field.
That goes beyond disrespect to the coach - it is disrespecting the other 10 guys.

He deserves criticism for both the on field demeanor as well as not having the sense to not whine about the game plan to the media, who love to blow stories like this out of proportion. His post game comments really show a lack of foresight and care about what the outcome would be for opening his mouth in such a way as the highly paid face of the franchise.

When cameras recorded Tom screaming on the sidelines after ADobson ran the wrong route in the end zone, it was a situation where A) Tom was maybe a little too intense about wanting to perform and win (not an indifference to how the play worked), and B) he had the sense to say something like "I need to work on my body language on the field" instead of Flacco's careless comments.

That doesn't mean you pout about it and fail to do your part on the play. It also doesn't mean you come out afterward and toss your OC under the bus.

Flacco whining to ESPN two days in a row is a huge sign of problems in that organization. We all have issues with the way some things are done where we work, but it is unprofessional and immature to take it to the media if you are the highest profile employee of the organization.

Forget the wildcat, this is Joe Flacco showing disrespect for John Harbaugh, Jim Caldwell and Ozzie Newsome. This never happened when Ray Lewis and Ed Reed were there. They would have pulled him aside and told him to keep it in-house.

Brady, Manning, Rodgers, Brees or Roethlisberger, to name a few SB winners, would never do this no matter how displeased they were with the play calling. Flacco isn't exactly setting the world on fire this season.

The Ravens have a huge problem on their hands, and the rest of the AFC will benefit from his lack of maturity.

I don't disagree with either approach. Sure, Flacco could have kept his mouth shut but it really is inexcusable to have your franchise and SB MVP QB lining up at WR. It's one thing to question another player/group of players effort (Manning calling out his OL in '05) vs. stating simple truth about a horrible playcall.
