It tells me that this game in Denver this week is huge.. Pats could fall all the way down to 4 with a loss.

Ideally the pats need to be the 2 or 3 seed.. With the weak 6 seed it guarentees you to play a layup in the divisional round and letting Denver and chiefs battle out 1 vs 5 in divisional round. We don't want the 1 seed this year

What I say?

I say that with our current defense we're ain't going anywhere.

Cool doc, thanks. San Diego's opponents record is head and shoulders above the rest.

They need the 2 seed.. Simple as that. They can beat the colts or bengals at home.

Then do I give them a chance in the AFCCG?? Hell yes.

Den goes 5-1 to finish 14-2, gets the #1 seed.
Ind goes 4-2 to finish 11-5, gets the #2 seed.
NE goes 4-2 to finish 11-5, gets the #3 seed.
Cin goes 3-2 to finish 10-6, gets the #4 seed.
KC goes 5-1 to finish 14-2, gets the #5 seed.
NYJ go 3-3 to finish 8-8, gets the #6 seed.

Wildcard Round
NE waxes NYJ
KC beats Cin

Divisional Round
Den beats KC
NE beats Ind

AFCCG
NE at Den - who knows?

Maybe yes and maybe no.

Dennard back and healthy, Gregory back and if Talib can get back playing like he did in the beginning it could get interesting. Get healthy and on a hot streak at the right time. The offense can get better and take some pressure off the defense.

so, which team are you going to watch and cheer for the rest of the season? Or, is it time to start previewing the draft for you?

Pats lose v Denver, Colts lose @ Cincinatti and @ KC, Bengals lose @ SD and @ Pitt

Win this week and NE becomes a threat for the #2 seed, lose this week and it almost certainly puts the Pats directly at the 4 seed unless the other teams suddenly get injury prone.

You DO NOT want to go to Indy in the playoffs in the early rounds, would much rather see the team play Cincy in the Divisional round should they get that far since it's tough to beat Belichick twice in the same season.

You're forgetting. That Indy still has to play the bengals... The pats can be no worse than 3 IMO

people seem to ignore the baltimore road game. thats no gimme. And with our banged up D the houston game is no lock either. one game at a time. Its frustrating this team hasnt found its stride yet and lost 3 consecutive road games.

With the way the pats played in the first half against carolina, i almost prefer not to have the bye this year. Playing the jets in the wild card and then the colts in indy are winnable games. And anything coild hapen in the afccg.

Right now we trail Indy due to 4-2 in the conference vs. 5-2 for them

But we have one more in-conference game to play than they do, so a tie in overall record may well also have a tie in conference record, and then it comes down to the next tiebreaker: Best won-lost-tied percentage in common games

Indy beat Denver, so we really need to do the same.
Indy beat Houston, so we really need to do the same.
Indy lost to Miami, while we beat them once and we need to beat them again.
We lost to Cincinnati, so hopefully they do as well.

Those things help us in potential tiebreaks with Indy to get #2 rather than #3.

I say 2 or 3 seed for the pats

1 - denver
2 - pats
3 - indy
4 - cincy
5 - KC
6 - jets or miami

or
1 - denver
2 - cincy
3 - pats
4 - indy
5 - KC
6 - jets or miami

the pats will either get the bye or play a wild card game at home. I think the highest probability is that the pats don't have to face denver until the AFCC, and that every game until then is very winnable.

I like the pats chances against denver next sunday more now than I did before the panthers game. the pats killed themselves against the panthers, which is fixable, but their offense can move the ball on anyone.

look at it this way.......when it comes to points per game, every defense the pats face the rest of the regular season is worse than the pats defense.

It's an enormous game on Sunday no doubt about that. Probably one that will solidify the two seed IMO

My point exactly.. You want the 2 or 3 seed then you only have to face KC and Denver once. 2 seed is ideal here this year.

I think 12-4 gets the #2 seed. I had the Patriots at 12-4 to start the year so we'll see what happens. Even if they lose on Sunday, I think NE is capable of running the table after that.

So, we'll score 30 points a game for the rest of the season. That won't beat DEN. One other
will likely beat us. leaving us at 11-5.

Obviously, we'd rather have the 3rd seed than the 4th. As many have said, we'd rather play the 6th seed than play one of the top teams in the league.
