If he makes it to them sign him immediately. He isn't what he was but he's still a player that could make a real difference if healthy down the stretch. He's already been paid most of what he's owed, this is a no brainer. I really hope he makes it to them.
On the other hand he may not have to clear waivers. He may just be an UFA.
I'm sure this will be a controversial thread, but...
Or he could just look at film from this season and see that he can't play.I would take my chances, Belichick would know very quickly if he can still play.
For all the bashing Belichick got for not signing him this offseason, he was right. The guy is done. The Texans gave him huge money for his name value and not much else.
That said, he might be worth bringing in at the veteran minimum to see if they can salvage him for anything.
I can't imagine he became done overnight. He was pretty solid last year.
FWIW he said their team was outcoached this weekend. They had no choice but to cut him.
I'm not sure he'd be an upgrade on Duron Harmon at this point.
Reed has the best instincts of any safety to ever play the game, even if he has lost a step he's going to read plays faster than anyone else out there. I can't see them passing on him, and I think Reed would come if they want him.
