1PM Games:
SEA @ ATL: My man Wilson stomps the hapless Falcons. Mega fall from grace. Go SeaHags!

CIN @ BAL: Sic Transit Gloria Mundi. Distasteful as it may be, given "elite" Flaccid Flacco et. al., we need BAL to win to give CIN 4 losses. Think seeding. Hold your nose.

DET @ CHI: As if

STL @ IND: That dweeb Luck is on our threat radar. Go Lambs!

OAK @ NYG: Sorry to offend the purists who always (mindlessly) say root NFC vs AFC in season but I'm rooting for OAK to further Eli's hapless season. Only a Peyton pick six is more fun.

BUF @ PIT: Battle of teams with 6 losses. Again, the purists say always root against division rivals. I say think about it. I like Buffalo and hate the Squealers. Buffalo!

JAC @ TEN: JAGs all the way baby. I know I'll be disappointed.

4PM Games:
CAR @ SF:
Going for CAR. Lull themselves into complacency before the fall. Do hope SF exacts a major physical toll Sunday.

HOU @ ARI: Counterintuitively going with AFC's HOU. Don't want them to get too good a set of draft picks in 2014 as they're underperforming for their talent level.

DEN @ SD: Gotta go with Danny's Woodchucks here. Manning is a threat for the one seed. It would be great to see Denvah as a wildcard with 4 games on the road, not that Satan will win more than one in January. Prepare for Epic Fail

SUN 8PM:
DAL @ NO:
Nothing is more predictable than a crunch time Romoception for 6 and Des "Diva" Bryant going all critical mass. Geaux Saints. Besides I like Brees.

MNF:
MIA @ TB:
Do FL teams suck or what? Going with MIA because I don't want MIA rebuilding thru the draft. If we can't beat MIA for the AFCE, then we belong golfing in January.

The Ravens reluctantly, disagree on Dallas @ NO though. I want the Giants as far away from the playoffs as is physically possible.

Mostly agree, except I'm rooting for dallas. Like the cowboys and I feel bad for Romo and they're a fun team to watch. Never really liked the saints. Boys usually win one game a season they shouldn't and hopes sky rocket before they lose to some garbage team. Wouldn't be the first time they were huge underdogs headed into a prime time game in NO and pulled it out.

for the pure schadenfreude, I have to go with the Chargers burying Denver as the post Fox episode puts Jack Del Rio at the helm of the team that poor Peytie was promised the Super bowl this year for. The only downside is, if the Broncos go south, then Goondell has no choice but to ramp up the Rat Express push for the playoffs to at least get his option #2 a shot in the NY/NJ Super Bowl.

and what a transparent goon, organized RICO act violator Goondell..."I'm calling for an independent arbitrator to handle the Miami issue"...what are the Feds waiting for?????? When does the full scale investigation into the inner workings of this organized crime cartel begin???..."uh, well, yeah, we just happened to trademark "Harbaugh Bowl" in February...we never suspected it would actually happen.."..of course ...Herr Goondell..."was ist los, ich weiß nichts.."

SEA-ATL: Sea will win but am rooting for ATL.
CIN-BAL: I hate rooting for Bal. But given the seed situation, I have to root for them.
DET-CHI: Meh. Don't care either way. I suppose I'll root for CHI since Det put a beat down on us in the pre season.
STL-IND: Rooting for the Rams obviously.
OAK-NYG: Gotta root for OAK. No more miracle second half of the season for the Giants.
BUF-PIT: Hoping for a BUF win. Can't let the Jets sneak in on a wild card spot.
JAC-TEN: Kinda hard to choose. I'll root for the Titans here.
CAR-SF: Rooting for CAR. Gotta make the 49ers continue to regret giving up Alex Smith
HOU-ARI: Don't care. Texans I guess.
DEN-SD: Come on Woodhead! Have the best game of your career!
DAL-NO: GO COWBOYS! Let's make it even harder on the Giants!!!
MIA-TB: Rooting for MIA. Anyway to hurt the Jets I am all for.

1. Seahawks!

2. Ravens. Even though it pains me to type that.

3. So Bears!

4. Rams, even though I really doubt they'll even keep the game close.

5. No question. GO RAIDERS!

6. Can't root for Buffalo. Argh, I hope the Stillers win. :/

7. Go Texans!

8. I cannot stand Kaep, so I'm going Panthers all the way.

9. Can't root for the Donkeys. Go SD!

10. I really want the Cowboys to win the division.

11. TB should get their first win, or I hope.

12. (forgot about Jags vs Titans) Go Jags I guess

SEA @ ATL: Don't think this one matters. Seattle win = more Schadenfreude.

CIN @ BAL: I have to agree: a BAL win helps the Pats more.

DET @ CHI: Don't think this one matters. Can't stand the Lions though, so. . . . da Bears.

STL @ IND: Yep, go Lambs.

OAK @ NYG: Gotta root for the Raiders here. Giants delenda est.

BUF @ PIT: Squealers delenda est.

JAC @ TEN:

CAR @ SF: Tossup, but I'll go for Carolina.

HOU @ ARI: I don't think the Pats need to worry about Houston in terms of the playoffs, so hurting their draft pick is a good thing.

DEN @ SD: WOODHEAD!

DAL @ NO: I like Brees, but I also want the Giants out of the playoffs, so I'll go with Dallas.

MIA @ TB: No matter who wins, America loses. . . . but comedy wins.

Ask not for whom the wicked pissahs, he pissahs for thee, ayuh? ;)

The Ravens over Cincy to help get the Pats fans the home games for the playoffs.

Indy over SL, if only so I can see Marshall Faulk cry again on national tv.

Oakland over the Giants. It's an AFL thing.

Buffalo over the Steelers. I just want the Bills to do well and show that the AFCE isn't the weak sisters of the poor.

Jags over the Titans. I know, fat chance.

Houston over Arizona. I'd like to see the Texans crush the hopes of the Cards.

SD over the Broncos, once again for the fans getting a shot at more home playoff games.

TB over Miami would help a lot, so I have to go against my AFL and AFCE principle and go with the NFC team in just this one game.

I don't care about the rest of the games.

SEA @ ATL: Sorry to go against your boy PWP but when no clear rooting interest comes to surface I always pull for the underdog. ATL

CIN @ BAL: Yep, Baltimore pretty easily.

DET @ CHI: Detroit, if Cutler is back. I don't like the guy.

STL @ IND: Easily STL

OAK @ NYG: Oak. NYG in a pathetic way still has a small shot at getting back in the division race. Gotta put them away for good.

BUF @ PIT: I'm going Pitt here, worsen their draft position. Buffalo's had a decade of high draft picks and still sucks.

JAC @ TEN: Jags.

4PM Games:
CAR @ SF:
Agree with CAR. I much rather have my opponents coming off a big win than a big loss. Game of the week IMO.

HOU @ ARI: Houston, worsen that draft pick.

DEN @ SD: SD please!!

SUN 8PM:
DAL @ NO:
Dallas, even though we beat NO I consider them one of the tougher potential SB matchups if we get there. Would like their road to be tough as can be. Dallas if they ever put it together is tough too but they've already got a bunch of L's. Sorry pherein, but it's out of respect!

MNF:
MIA @ TB:
TB so we can fully root for MIA against NYJ later on.

1PM Games:
SEA @ ATL: Overtime Tie.

CIN @ BAL: Overtime Tie.

DET @ CHI: Overtime Tie.

STL @ IND: NFC.

OAK @ NYG: Overtime Tie.

BUF @ PIT: Overtime Tie.

JAC @ TEN: Overtime Tie.

4PM Games:
CAR @ SF: Overtime Tie.

HOU @ ARI: NFC.

DEN @ SD: Overtime Tie.

SUN 8PM:
DAL @ NO: Overtime Tie.

MNF:
MIA @ TB: NFC.

Early Games:

SEA @ ATL: Falcons: underdog factor; upset the natural order of things the 'experts' expect to happen; perhaps expose a flaw with Seattle; take their confidence down a notch.

CIN @ BAL: This is definitely not a case of rooting for the Ravens to win, but for the Bengals to lose for future playoff seeding.

DET @ CHI: Rooting against Suh and his comrades.

STL @ IND: Rooting against the Colts for future playoff seeding, and maybe the Rams can expose some Indy weaknesses for future reference.

OAK @ NYG: Always root against a New York team.

BUF @ PIT: The Bills are not a threat in the AFCE, so despite the rule about winning the division first I'll be rooting against the Steelers. To the Pittsburgh fans who were here, you were great - but I still dislike the team, certain players, and the fan base as a whole to the point that I pretty much always root against them.

JAC @ TEN: I want the Titans to win; I'm looking at them as the team with probably the best chance to keep the Jets out of the playoffs.

Late Games:

CAR @ SF:[/B] Panthers to win, to hopefully set up a bit of an emotional let down next week when they play the Patriots. If Carolina loses then they are going to have that much more of a chip on their shoulder, we don't want that.

HOU @ ARI: As PWP said, root for the Texans to win; we don't want an AFC team loaded with talent to get the benefit of early draft picks.

DEN @ SD: Ever since seeing him play on a blown out knee while Tomlinson sat hiding on the bench behind his Darth Vader mask, I find it easy to root for Philip Rivers; on top of that the Chargers have Danny Woodhead, a very likable guy. At this point it's not even Manning himself that I dislike as much as it is the 24/7 adulation that the media heaps upon him. Easy call, root for the Chargers and against the Broncos.

SNF:
DAL @ NO:
On one hand I want to root for the Saints for pherein, Brees and the other players seem like good guys, and it's easy to root against Jerry Jones. On the other hand a Dallas victory is one more nail in the coffin towards insuring a New York team misses the playoffs. I think the Saints will win the NFC South regardless of what happens in this game, so I'm going to go with the Cowboys in this one.

MNF:
MIA @ TB:
Living on Florida's gulf coast, the Bucs are my alternate team so I am rooting for them. Even though Miami could potentially knock the Jets out of the playoffs, I'll have to rely on Tennessee to do that I guess. Besides being a division rival, it's tough to side with the Dolphins right now.

The problem with rooting for Tennessee is you have to consider the BPF (Bernard Pollard Factor). I want him as far away from the playoffs and Patriot players as humanly possible.

506 Sports

Dang.

LOL, what's with that blue stripe through the middle of Maine?

Anyway, guess I'll go against conventional wisdom here and root for the Panthers to lose. I'm a big believer in momentum and wouldn't mind seeing the Panthers' ramped down before a big MNF game at home next week. (By the way, was reading Reiss's Sunday notes and he had this: "The combined winning percentage of Panthers opponents through the first eight games was .343, the lowest mark in the NFL over that span.") FWIW.

Also rooting for the Woodheads against the Foreheads. Another tidbit from Reiss: Woodhead is on a pace for 98 receptions this year. ANyone here predict that Woodhead (49) and Welker (50) would be neck-and-neck (eye to eye?) in receptions?

1PM Games:
SEA @ ATL: I can't stand Pete Carroll/Richard Sherman. Can't really stand most of ATL either, but the Carroll factor is much bigger.

CIN @ BAL: This is a pick that could come back to haunt us Pats fans if the Ravens get on a roll. Thankfully I don't foresee that happening.

DET @ CHI: Cheering for Detroit is like cheering for the fat kid in a foot race. It's just the nice thing to do.

STL @ IND: The Colts could be a dangerous team come January. Hopefully the St. Louis Fishers can upset Indy.

OAK @ NYG: **** the Giants

BUF @ PIT: I have a hard time ever rooting for a division rival. Don't particularly like the Squealers, but more years of Buffalo futility is always something to root for :D

JAX @ TEN:Keep the Jets out of the playoffs.

4PM Games:
CAR @ SF: Hopefully Carolina pulls the upset, only to have a major letdown next week.

HOU @ ARI: Literally couldn't care less about this game. Go Birds I guess.

DEN @ SD: Just shut BSPN up about the "greatest team ever." Plus, Danny Woodhead is awesome.

SUN 8PM:
DAL @ NO: Cheering for the Cowgirls is like cheering for Christmas to be cancelled; only scumbags do it.

MNF:
MIA @ TB: I want the circus that is the Miami Dolphins to continue to spiral out of control

1PM Games:
SEA @ ATL: I can't stand Pete Carroll/Richard Sherman. Can't really stand most of ATL either, but the Carroll factor is much bigger.

Met Petey twice. Way back when training camp was in Smithfield RI, after practice my wife & I chatted with Pete who rode around the fields on his dirt bike. Seemed nice. Both he and Kraft always seemed very friendly to my wife. ;)

Second time was not so nice. In the early 2000s, I'd just landed in SF on a trip to get Silicone Valley VC funding for my startup, and across from me at the next AVIS clerk is Pete. Asked his name he says, "Pete Carroll" and I look at him and say, "Yeah and I'm freakin' Doug Flutie". For some reason this really pissed him off. Thought he was gonna swing on me.

Slightly OT:

Adam Schefter ‏@AdamSchefter 6m
For first time in his NFL career, Pats S Devin McCourty will be in stands today to watch his brother Jason play CB vs. Jaguars.
