per Michael Smith on Sportscenter. They swap 2nd round picks w/ the Bears.

Good pickup for the Jets.

decent pickup, he'll be productive, but he's getting up there in age. i'm sure they might draft someone still

Swap 2nds ? What did they drop, 7 spots ? And why didn't they toss in their 7th round pick ?

Good pickup. The Jets had the 37th pick in the draft (I think from Washington?), and they move down to 62 to get Jones, good move.

Argh, great pickup. But the compensation doesn't seem to be enough. A six-spot trade-up? If that's true, major steal.

Mehhh... he's a bit boom or bust. In Arizona, his yards per carry average was horrible but so is Edgerrin James's. You can't really blame Mangina for gambling here due to the advantage we have.

Looks like Corey isn't going there.

Yeah, I just saw that :

"According to league sources, the Bears have agreed to trade RB Thomas Jones and a 2007 second-round pick (No. 63 overall) to the Jets for a 2007 second-round pick -- No. 37 overall -- which was acquired previously in a trade from Washington, ESPN.com's Michael Smith reported."

Ah, that makes more sense. Still a good deal for the Jets.

He got 99 yards against us at over 4 ypc in 2006. Almost hate to see him twice a year.

So, they only had to swap 2nd rounders to get Thomas Jones but you had to give up a 2nd and a 7th for Welker?

That was because they snapped Seau's arm bone in half. He was doing nothing before Seau got hurt.

Great pickup by the Jets,, now they can concentrate on other needs in the first round, they will be our main competitor in the AFC East next year. Hopefully they have a similarly difficult schedule like ours. Like the Dolphins, I'm never shocked when the Jets beat us.

Ehh...Jones has never impressed me much. Even the most pedestrian back would have racked up some good looking stats with the Bears last year.

Terrific deal for the Jets.
