This will get better with Gronk and Amendola back.

yeah but unfortunately our inside /center of the field passing game is gone now.

I do wonder if the Patriots are trying to purposely develop an outside game in the event that the middle of the field is taken away from the Patriots in the playoffs. Outside the hashmarks has been somewhat problematic since Moss' departure.

I missed this yesterday, but seems relevant here:

The Patriots' coach offered encouraging words on the progress of second-round pick Aaron Dobson, who has 13 receptions over his last three games, doubling his total from the first four games of the season (he was inactive for the opener against Buffalo).

"I think you’re really seeing a good day-by-day consistency, on and off the field," Belichick said. "On the field, in the weight room, his conditioning, in the classroom, walkthroughs, all that. He’s focused and he just keeps improving. I think it’s a very steady incline. I don’t think it’s been one – obviously you can point to a couple plays – but I think his overall improvement has been very steady and consistent.

The development of Dobson, after Thompkins had established a clear rapport with Brady, is tremendous. If the five-headed beast - Gronk, Amendola, Edelman, Dobson and Thompkins - can be joined by Shane Vereen out of the backfield, the offense will have too many weapons for any team to account for with starters.

Dobson's TDs today were a coming of age.

Not a bad week to have the bye.

It looks like he's finally adjusted to the speed of the NFL. Looks like a completely different guy catching the ball.

I agree. His gesture to throw the ball (during his second TD) was for some reason pretty impressive. :)

I wonder if TB even saw that gesture considering the # of bodies around him and that it occured at least 25+ yards away from TB.

Pretty cool!!

and here's hoping for more such as this strong team embarks on its second half.

GO PATS!!

Today's game is exactly how we hoped he'd turn out to be after pats drafted him. So seems like people won't be taliking about BB bad luck with drafting WR's anytime soon :)

he's been getting better each week over the last 4 weeks and he had an amazing game today

Guy looked like Randy Moss on that TD catch with the way he put his hand up without even looking back.

Special players make special plays.

Any people out there who still want to whine about Dobson not being able to catch? Jesus people have been all over his case for a good part of the season. He's just a rookie.

A damn good looking rookie.

Something I got told today on another forum by a non-Pats fan could give an explanation to the drops: the NFL ball is heavier & more aerodynamic than the ball used in College. I'd never heard this before but always thought the ball in College looked bigger, if someone on here had said it then it'd have likely been laughed off as an excuse.

But, as long as he keeps improving he's going to be a very good WR in the NFL. He has the ability to get WIDE open & his route running is improving.

He is really getting better and coming on fast

The returm of Gronk and a valid run game has opened up Dobson's strong suit, the deep ball. Dobson is best WR talent the Pats have on the team. We haven't been able to see it until now because he is still a rookie and hasn't developed his game yet to adjust and be the short/intermediate guy they needed in the beginning of the season with no Gronk, Amendola, or run game.

Dobson will be elite in the next year or two. Book it!

BB will probably point out 50 different things he did poorly during meetings next week. Ha!

You're probably right.

It's one of the reasons he's a Top 3 coach of all time

Keep in mind that Dobson did not play in week 1 of the season due to a hamstring injury.

Last 4 games:

Receptions: 18 receptions
Targeted: 31 times
Catch Ratio: 58%
Receiving Yards: 287
Yards per Average: 15.94
Touchdowns: 3

Projected over full 16 game season:

Receptions: 72
Targets: 124
Catch Ratio: 58%
Receiving Yards: 1148
Yards per Average: 15.94
Touchdowns: 12

I recall being hammered when I made this comparison during training camp but honestly he is not that far off AJ Greens pace as a rookie A.J. Green Stats - Cincinnati Bengals - ESPN

reason they drafted him so high...has some very good skills
