OT: BRADY or PAPI....

To quote Giselle "tom brady can't throw to himself" "Tom brady can't catch passes"

Tom brady is nothing without a o-line and good receivers.

Ortiz is nothing without a good hitter in front and behind him either

... WTF ... get real you're slamming Brady in a Patriot's forum.

i love all Boston teams but this is a non comparison.

Brady is the greatest Patriot ever ... Ortiz is a great Red Sox player of a few.

Who means more to Boston? Both have won three championships for Boston and are legends in their own right.... Either way we are lucky fans to have both those players playing for our teams but who will have their face in the Mount Rushmore of Boston sports first?

You guys and myself have went off topic.

aaron rodgers, Andrew luck, steve young and brady proves just how replaceable a great quarterback is.

Who's to say the pats wouldn't draft someone just as good or better than brady....big papi clutch hitting may be harder to replace since that's more mental than anything.

I think the nfl is still a defense driven league.

First of all, the comparison of the two is just plain asinine and anyone who disparages baseball and/or football by comparison is just as obtuse. Anyone who is a true, passionate, and lifelong New England sports fan shouldn't even consider the argument. It's like asking a parent which of their kids they love more. As a diehard fan everything Red Sox, Bruins, Patriots, and Celtics I cherish all the accolades, moments, and titles they have brought to New England. I just want to pass on the passion to my kids and have something we can share together.

Apparently, he needs to show his new found love for the red Sox by bashing Brady in a Patriots message board..... He's trolling just ignore him.

Are you that black and white that you can't have a sports discussion without feeling like someone is bashing brady.

this was a discussion.

Sorry, Ortiz has no shot at the HOF. Even if he had the numbers he couldn't get in because of the PEDs.

Sorry, but IMO you're wrong. The 3rd World Series title and the MVP will put Ortiz as the first DH into Cooperstown. Maybe not on the first ballot, but he will get in eventually. The fact that he HASN'T been linked directly to the "list" with the likes of Bonds and A-Hole will be to his benefit.

last thing to note:

Do people really think the whole spygate discussion isn't going to be brought up when bill and brady are up for the hall of fame?

Hard to objectively put one above the other. If you follow the Pats closer than the Red Sox, or if you like the NFL better than MLB then you will probably say Brady. Vice versa you will say Papi.

I like both and feel lucky to cheer for both on my teams. How many other fanbases in other cities can say that?

As for the claim that the 2008 Patriots defense was "good"... no they were not.

Lol so you never bashed Brady????

Run away troll....and take your pink Sox/NY jets hat with you!

No, or at least people whose opinions really matter. Spygate is dead. Anyone who doesn't think Brady or BB belong in the Hall of Fame based on the Spygate argument is completely handicapped between the ears.

Both should (and will) be in on the first ballot to the HOF.

Are you saying brady has better stats than manning?

I'm saying that. Brady is a far more efficient QB and blows manning away in INTs. If you simply break down by passes thrown the only difference between Manning and dozens of other QBs is that he throws more- more passes, more yards and more INTs. His stat sheet that of a QB who simply spent most of his career in a pass heavy offense.

Brady holds the records for fewest INTs (in several categories) and most TDs. The three biggest records for QBs are TDs held by Brady, yards by Brees, and rating by Rodgers. Even in career statistics he's behind Favre, though he may get some of those records the same way Favre did, by playing more than anyone else and passing more than anyone else.

Really, without the media attention what has Peyton really done? Like Favre people will look back at the records and the SBs and wonder what the fuss was all about because it ain't in the passing records and it ain't in the wins. And that's with playing almost his entire career with two HOF receivers.

I don't know. People/fans/writers act like spygate was the biggest blackeye the sport has ever faced.

It's impossible to compare the two. One is arguably up for discussion as one of the GOATS in his respective sport, while the other one is up for discussion just to make the Hall of Fame.

Now if we're talking about being clutch in the biggest stage, I can see how people would argue Ortiz is more clutch.

I guess the best way to compare the two is to put them in critical situations in the biggest game and which one would you feel more confidence in.

For example, who would you bet more on:

Brady in the SB, down 4 with 2 minutes to go needing a TD?

Or

Ortiz bottom of the ninth 2 outs bases loaded down by 1 in game 7 of the WS? One hit wins the entire thing, one out ends the run.

One can argue that Ortiz just needs to get a hit, but conversely he also just has one chance to get a hit. Brady in that 2 minute drive has 4 downs, ways to stop the clock, etc. Ultimately it really does come down to which one makes the plays.

So who do you have more confidence in to be clutch?
