OT: BRADY or PAPI....

like anyone who thinks Ortiz is some invaluable figure try and forget the talk radio narratives for a moment and look at the contracts he's gotten.

He's in a sport where insane contracts and years are handed out drunkenly and he's barely been paid (relatively). The baseball market doesn't value him the way you are portraying him.

Tom brady has not won a superbowl without a elite defense.

David Ortiz has not won a championship without 24 other guys to pitch, run the bases, play the field and basically everything else required to win a baseball team.

Big papi is the greatest dh of all time.

The designator hitter is only in half of MLB which means there are 15 teams that function without the existence of a David Ortiz type player. Have you ever seen a NFL team function without a QB?

Edgar Martinez is the best DH of all-time in the eyes of 99% of baseball experts.

It doesnt matter. It is only relevant to the fact that he will be lumped in with others who failed PED tests by HOF voters.
That is the only point of it being in this discussion....how it would affect his HOF chances.

Didn't brady work with barry bonds trainer?

Andy, you're embarrassing yourself. The question was who means more to Boston? The use of GOAT versus HOF is not applicable. Both are as important to their organizations as one another. In my eyes, both are Boston legends and have claims to an equal share of Boston importance.

If I'm going to choose one ahead of the other it would be Brady only because the Patriots are my #1 team. I can easily see why others would think it's Papi.

Really, it's absurd that people feel the need to put both down. Both are leaders of their respective teams. Both will go down as Boston legends. Both brought success to teams that were sorely crying out for it.

Cant help being a doosh bag can you?

Your foolish opinions bring out the best in me. Both are as important to their respective organizations as each other. Boston wouldn't be celebrating 6 collective championships between them without each. It's really not too difficult to comprehend.

Th dh has to play a position in the world series...nice try. Big papi could play 1st basemen if he wants

"Have you ever seen a NFL team function without a QB?' Yes, the 2011 broncos.

What point are you trying to make?
Is there a reason you are trashing Tom Brady?

The best in you would be to just remain silent.

I wonder how many NFL players would fail MLB drug testing policy.

I hate people during a blind eye to NFL players testing positive for PEDs. Pats have guys that I can name without googling who have been suspended for failed drug tests.

Red Sox have none.

NFL fans talking about MLB be players being dirty need to look at their sport.

No thank you Andy. I'm comfortable with my assessment of Tom Brady and David Ortiz. Both are awesome and I'm proud that I have had the privilege to watch both represent Boston sporting teams.

When the topic is the HOF and steroid users don't get in, that is relevant.

He can play first base on a limited workload at a limited defensive level if forced into it.

I have no issue with Ortiz but comparing his impact on the Red Sox to the impact Tom Brady has on the Patriots is ridiculous in my opinion, David Ortiz is not even the most essential player on his team. If you wanted to compare David Ortiz to a Patriots player the better comparison would be to Gostkowski; what he does is important to the team scoring but other than that he is invisible, actually Ghost kicks off but I think you get my point.

You are entitled to your opinion. You become a doosh when you try to assess me. Your obsession with me is troubling.

I don't have an obsession with you. I am amused by your persistent foolishness and feel the need to counteract that foolishness with balance offering readers an alternative opinion.

If you believe that holding a divergent opinion correlates to an obsession and douchebaggery, that's your prerogative.

Do you think confirmed or accused steroid users should get in any HOF?

No disrespect to Papi, one of the all time greats, but Brady could very well go down as the goat. Brady's only missed the playoffs once, back in 2002. While it is harder to make it in MLB Papi has missed numerous times and been bounced early. Again no disrespect to Papi, easily hall of famer and great to see him get series mvp. He proved he wasn't garbage without roids, dude is the real deal.

if Papi was a plus 1B he would play there

now you're just trolling.

Didn't the patriots win a afc championship game WITH BRADY playing poorly?

nfl is a team sport
baseball is a me sport.

I don't think my opinion much matters since I don't have a vote.

If it were up to me, I'd put them in and have a display documenting the issue and a comment on each players placque.

The al east makes the afc east look like a cake walk.
