How did BB miss this guy? How come Schiano didn't tip him off? We was robbed.

From NFL Spinzone's List of 12 Most Impressive Rookies so far-

"...The Chiefs took Cooper out of Rutgers (whoa, how about that one Schiano and Belichick?) with a seventh-round pick, and he’s been more than they could have ever hoped for. Cooper has simply flourished as a rookie, and he looks like a real shutdown corner in the making. Former Rutgers teammate and Patriots rookie CB Logan Ryan (selected in the third round) has impressed this season as well (two big plays in the past two games), but he hasn’t been nearly as good as Cooper, who is as assured as anyone in coverage. I mean, who would have guessed that Marcus Cooper would be the most impressive rookie cornerback through the first half of the regular season? He has a whopping 11 passes defended under his belt this season, and he definitely isn’t done yet."

The Patriots did try to acquire him. He was drafted by San Francisco in the 7th round and cut late in preseason. The Patriots put a waiver claim in for him but Kansas city had precedence. It's a shame since he's so good.

Cooper would have probably been a Patriot if the 49ers didn't draft him and he slipped into UDFA.

Also the fact that this list didn't have Chris Jones on it is a complete joke.

Rookie DT that has been thrust into starting these last 4 weeks and leads all rookies with 5 sacks.

He's actually got more sacks than JJ Watt.

How exactly is Ryan "not nearly as good" as Cooper

Is that where they spin things?

The writer was wrong the 49ers took him and he was released in final roster cuts, we put in a waiver claim but he was awarded to KC because they had order priority.

The good news is the niners board has "why did we release Cooper?" threads.

Cooper has much better manners, he hasn't been fined for grabbing his crotch once this season.

D.J. Hayden says hi.

The only things I've heard about Hayden since the season started is that he fell below Mike Jenkins on the depth chart and hasn't been very good.

It's probably where they actually watch the players play.

I'm certain that if any sort of opportunity to poach him from KC becomes available Bill will gladly scoop him up.

Dang. Well, at least we know BB is on the ball. ;)

But seriously, imagine the weirdness if we had gotten Cooper and he turned out this good for us. The Pats could have literally gone all Rutgers in the DB-
Ryan/Cooper
McCourty/Harmon

Then they put their spin on it?

If you wish to equate evaluating players to spinning, sure.

If you wish to be honest about how the two have played, you'd have to be high on crack to think Ryan's been anywhere near as good as Cooper.

Then you clearly haven't been paying attention. That was only when the season started with Hayden coming off missing all of training camp due to health reasons and was sidelined for ten months recovering from a near-fatal injury. Very few rookies come out the gates fast when you've missed that much time.

Unlike the rest of the rookies of this class, he's actually consistently tasked with matching up with a teams #1 receiver. From the Pierre Garçons, to the Antonio Browns, to whomever. He might have started slow, but for the past month or so, no rookie corner has been playing at a higher level than him. Refer to the game tape if you have any doubts about that.

For a guy that's had to overcome the adversities that life has thrown at him, to playing at the level that he is today, is nothing short of amazing.

Next time you talk to Belichick, make sure to bring this to his attention.

Ryan has been playing fairly good in Talib's absence.

In fairness he didn't say Ryan was playing poorly. Just not as well. If you watch football, it is a little hard to disagree with that take.
