Emmanuel Sanders last play as a #Steelers ? I know the #Patriots are putting on the press to get him, we'll see.

Loyko's not know for breaking stories, but he's been working around the Pats long enough to get some connections and I don't think he's the kind of guy to make stuff up. Heck, and at least his name is behind it, which is better than a few "sources" that have been cited lately.

We know the Patriots like Sanders, and I'd say that they could get him for less than a 3rd at this point considering Pittsburgh's record. It would also be very interesting to be the first team to play Ben after taking away his #2 receiver, and that'd most likely be Sanders' biggest contribution to the game, because I very much doubt the Pats would put Sanders on the field less than a week after trading for him.

I'd say that there's a better chance that the Pats do something than most years, but anybody hoping for a Fitzgerald or Jared Allen is going to be very disappointed.

I'd much rather have Gordon than Sanders, and Gonzalez should be feeling a bit less stubborn about remaining in Atlanta after today's loss.

That makes the 2TE sets beastly for at least this year, gives the team a legitimate WR1 for years to come, and brings in a backup QB who knows the system if he's needed.

I think there's a strong chance they'll make a move because there's value to be had albeit at a risk. Talib seems to be working out just fine.

Personally I think Sanders and Gonzalez have to be on the Pats' radar.

I'm just personally feeling as though there may be some complications with the Tony Gonzalez situation that makes it tougher to try and move him, but that's just my opinion. We'll have to see how it shakes out, but I do not expect ATL to try and trade him myself.

I don't think he wants to do it, and I think there's some grey area regarding exactly "when" any given team decides that their season is over and they throw in the towel. I also have a feeling that Gonzalez may just rather retire than uproot his family etc for the next 8+ weeks. I think the most important factor is that it may be kind of a **** move with ATL having lured him back for one last season, just to turn around and trade him for future picks.

Again---just my thoughts, and I may very well be wrong. We will know soon enough. In the meantime, it's fun to imagine the possibilities.

One thing that could potentially increase our chances of going against the grain and bringing in an outside receiver in the middle of the season is the fact that we're going into a bye week this year (after Sunday's game of course).

That may allow them a little bit of extra time to try and get a new receiver a bit more acclimated to the system, although I am very skeptical. Even someone as experienced as Collie is spending a ton of time every day after practice and is having a difficult time seeing the field or contributing.

I'm hoping this wouldn't impact on Dobson's snaps. Starting to see some real development from him which I don't want to see hindered. Collie, Edelman and Thompkins could all suffer in time from a Sanders pick up.

The position we need to target at the trade deadline is that of a big run stopper/space eating DL. The problem is trying to find someone to give a player like this up.

I think that the current circumstances would warrant giving up a future 2nd or 3rd round pick in the spring draft. I think it's a position that should have been targeted this past year or two as it is, but that's just my opinion. I think we were gambling a bit with Wilfork not ever missing much time.

Either way, both sides of the ball in the trenches is a pretty big "need" for the first 1-4 rounds in the spring's draft...without a doubt.

I do not think the odds of bringing in an outside receiver are even 20-1 myself.

I think the system is difficult, and it'd be somewhat of a waste trying to get him acclimated. The benefit would not likely be felt until the final couple/few games of the regular season, unless it'd be someone to stretch the field a bit and act as a bit of a decoy in some manner, which may open things up for others and showing a contribution sooner than we expected.

I think aside from QB, bringing in a WR is the second most difficult position to even consider.

Some more "average" moves such as TE/DL may be a thought though, and a move like that could be just as beneficial.

You've got to be concerned about giving up 150-160 yds per game on the ground in the last 4 games on average since the loss(es) occurred.

DL is not a position that is anywhere as difficult as WR, and the benefit of the bye week may be something that is taken into account.

Normally I am not one to suggest giving up a 3rd-4th round pick so easily, but it seems to be a very big obstacle to the season, doesn't it?

Beyond that, I'd look at Tony Gonzalez as people have mentioned. At 2-5, Atlanta's season is all but done. Gonzalez wouldn't have to "Up root" his family. He could spend the next few months in New England and the family could stay in Atlanta. No reason they couldn't visit him on the weekends.

Beyond that, if I am the Pats, I don't see them doing anything unless there is a 3 way deal that lands them Gordon and Cassel as Deus mentioned.

While I'd love for the Pats to bring in another DT since we have no idea when they are getting Kelly or Armstead back, the only one I'd look to add is Kevin Williams from Minnesota.

I think there are definitely some guys out there, but it's probably doubtful that their teams would consider parting with them. Guys like Phil Taylor, even Barry Cofield etc would be some pretty nice improvements. Of course their importance is obvious which makes the trading team less likely to want to move on unless you dangle a very nice pick.

Excellent point, DaBruinz. He wouldn't necessarily need to move etc, however there may not be any truth whatsoever to the rumors that were likely just started by fans/media about ATL wanting to part with him.

Again, maybe not in the unrooting of the family issue, but there do seem to be some added "obstacles" of sorts in a bit of a different situation with a well respected veteran player who they really went out of their way to lure back.

We can only speculate and no one has any idea as to whether or not he's on the market. I am just thinking out loud for some barriers that may prevent the Falcons from moving on from him for future draft picks, that's all. He'd definitely be a great addition. Even a guy like Fred Davis on a much lesser level would be a halfway decent addition for a lower round draft pick, seeing as how WAS is considering cutting him outright. They have replaced him in the lineup and I don't even think he's been active lately, although I could be wrong.

Yeah, he seems like a pretty decent guy who likely wouldn't cause too much of a fuss either way under the right setting to a contender. The thought of retiring was nothing more than sheer speculation on my part.

I suppose if both parties were okay with it, it's a possibility. I certainly think it'd be a big move.

Of course a team like KC would really benefit from him, especially since they don't throw the ball more than 10 yds downfield on any given throw.
