Anyone know the status with Mike Wright?

Thanks! I guess I missed that one....

Will he be an RFA in 2007?

In any case, his roster spot may need filling soon. The guy is probably good enough to be a cheap starter on another team.

On the plus side -- the Pats may be willing to pay him middle-class money to be the #4 DE.

That being said, I love Mike Wright and the tremendous progress he made to become a very good DL. It would be great to lock him up. His projectory is still occuring.

We should be discussing extending Wright. If he were an RFA this year, we would likely be tendering him at $1.8M, requiring a first from another team. He was very valuable during last season, and got lots of reps.

I agree that we might be drafting a DL to compete, but not with Wright. The 6th and 7th DL positions are held by Smith and Hill, with Santonio Thomas also competing for one of the two roster spots.

Agreed. He played very well subbing for Wilfork last season. I hope we hang on to him long-term.

A) He is the #2 NT, not the #4 DE.

B) If he is on the 53-man roster or the injured reserve list for 6 or more games in 2007, he will be a RFA in March 2008.
