Anyone have any inside scoop on Kelly, Talib and Amendola?

Sounds like Amendola will play.

Amendola said he feels great today. So he'll probably go. Talib was supposedly hobbling still, according to reporters at the practice and Kelly hasn't practiced so those two probably won't go this week.

Thanks! Been so busy at work today and really just needed some info...appreciate it!

Tommy Kelly calls himself "day to day" and says he has been asked not to comment further. Says 1st interview will come when he returns.

Armen, you may find the tweets from Pats writers section Ian added on the upper right helpful on breaking news

Kelly, absent from practice the whole week, walked through the locker room but declined to comment about his condition. Said he will comment when he starts practicing again (per the coaching staff's request).

What's the latest on the adductor protocols? :p

The extreme nursing treatments by the cheerleader staff have left Danny feeling MUCH better.
Love the way the whole Pats org pulls together.

In an unrelated story, all 53 players on the roster and 7 of the PS players have reported groin pulls.

Supposedly Amendola is ready to return. Somehow I'm not too exited about that since he's an injury waiting to happen. I'm more concern with Talib, I haven't heard anything other than he was practicing.

I'm confused - so they should bench Amendola to make sure that he never gets hurt? Basically seems like you're saying that his production on the field is so valuable that they shouldn't risk putting him on the field, which is where he has to be in order to produce.

Tommy Kelly was seen today visibly limping in the locker room with a sleeve over the knee. It doesn't look like we should expect him back within the next few games in my opinion.

Aqib Taliq has reportedly been hobbled in practice, and has not talked with the media all week long. It's normal protocol that Pats players who are injured and aren't going to play don't speak to the media (unless you are #12 or #87 as they are required). I don't think we see him Sunday.

NESN is reporting that Amendola and Talib look like a go for Sunday and that Carter is working with Chandler Jones. It would be nice to see Carter on the field on obvious passing downs with Ninkovich and Jones to add an extra pass-rush dimension.

Agreed, seems like an obvious place for him to contribute right away would be in Buchanan's role on third down, playing DE when Jones shifts to DT. Plugging him in there only displaces one rotational player (Buchanan) and allows everyone else to continue doing what they do.

I actually like what Buchanan has brought strictly as a pass rusher, so it wouldn't surprise me if this actually represents a bit of a drop-off in QB pressure. Carter will be way better against the run and against mobile quarterbacks who can take advantage of overzealous DEs, though, while hopefully not being too much of a drop-off in the pass rush.

Supposedly Buchanan hadn't been looking as good lately.

Reports claimed that he was getting pushed around a bit, not setting the edge, etc. Can't post a link b/c there are so many articles and things hidden in notes etc throughout the week that I don't feel like looking for it. Just figured I'd pass it along.

I didn't notice it myself during the real time game action, but I don't normally get a chance to review the games too often--so I likely missed it.

He definitely has been, that's what I was referring to re: overzealous DEs being taken advantage of by mobile QBs. Geno had a couple of big plays last week where Buchanan ran too far upfield, gave up the edge, and created an easy running lane. Tannehill's pretty mobile in his own right, so the Pats are presumably worried about that happening again, and giving his snaps to Carter is a pretty good way to make sure that it doesn't.

I have high hopes for Buchanan, but it looks like he needs to put on some weight and become a bit more disciplined in his pass rush before he can be a reliable contributor here. He'd have to be a Freeney-in-his-prime caliber pass rusher to justify more than a bit role with his current weakness against the run, and he's no Freeney.

With another offseason of work, though, I could definitely see him producing on par with what Mark Anderson did in his year here.

I'm saying that Amendola has yet to do something spectacular this season, like catching touchdowns, piling up yardages or anything Wes Welker related. if he can't stay healthy (we all know he probably won't) then his value drastically goes down.I actually wanna see more balls coming to Collie than him.

you mean other than week 1 catching 10 balls for 104yards, and 9 first downs? he looked a heck of alot like welker in that game...but alas he went down with the groin injury

thats what we need from Amendola(well maybe not that, but 5-6 catches for 60-70 yards and a TD would be nice)

so, the plan should be to instead play an EVEN MORE injury prone player who is one hit away from ending his NFL career?

If you don't think he's valuable, then you shouldn't really care if he gets hurt again anyway.

And I suggest you look into Collie's history if you think he's a better alternative because Amendola's too injury prone. That's like going with cardboard because plywood isn't strong enough.
