can someone sum this situation up quick for me...i just got back from vacation (GREAT snowboarding up in NH btw) and missed quite a bit (thomas, morris, brady) which i all was able to read up on..im a little confused about whats happening with welker...also, what did borges do now...

Supposedly we're gonna sign him to a big RFA contract that would cost us our #2 pick. Huge $$$ but a good chance it's not as big as it seems. That's about it, no official word yet.

welker signed an offer sheet for i believe $38.5 mill/ 6 years. miami has seven days to match the offer, if they match it then he stays with them. if they dont then we get him but we have to give up our second round pick to miami. so we'll know in about a week if we got him (which we prob will, dosnt look like miami will match that offer)

heres my initial reaction......

we basically ended up with branch for welker, plus a pick about 35 spots higher in the draft....ill take it..

you forgot a piece: plus millions and millions of dollars.

early reports on the welker deal put it in the $3 mil/year range (not counting poison pill).

truth...this really doenst bother me, because my hope was a 2nd round WR, and i think welker will be just as good as anyone we will pick outta the 2nd round....i specifically remember saying "i wish he was on NE" over and over when we played miami

Welker will be a great pick up

That forgotten "piece" is what everything revolves around, as had Branch sucked up the cash - there would be no Koppen and most likely no Thomas either.

There is talk about the Pats looking into Stallworth...This been a AWESOME offseason so far....

Hey, I'm a homebrewer, too. I'm putting something in for the Longshot contest; what kinds of brews are you guys into?
