Don,

Thank You. You were a an erstwhile opponent in the Pats first
Super bowl victory and a crucial unheralded part ever since. You provided locker room leadership and coverage ability as a LB/S.

I hope you retire to the coaching sidelines and follow in the footsteps of OTIS.

Patriotically,

Thanks Don Davis - this guy played great in 2005 and I wish him well.

Zak DeOssie, hope you get drafted by the Patriots next month.

seems like a really cool guy too. I hope he stays around NE

Don Davis was one of the shining examples of why the Pats total was far more than the sum of its parts.

Best of luck to him in the future.

Great clutch guy. I think our FA and draft will be like the menu at Belushi's SNL Greek restaurant.

Linebacker, Linebacker, Linebacker, Linebacker, frie, (no frie, chip:D ), Linebacker.

Davis is the sort of class act who occasionally gets me to step down from my anti-religion soapbox.

Thanks for everything!

Now please grab a whistle and remain a Patriot family member.

Don Davis is yet another example of a Patriots type player

one who can adapt to different positions

IIRC Davis wanted to become a Physical Conditioning coach/trainer, hope he get to do it with the PAts.

Agreed. Don Davis is a classic Patriot. I hope he can remain a part of the organization.

Not even DeOssie's dad is saying Zak is ready to be a starter - but I hope they draft him too.

Here's hoping that Davis signs on as a coach. I think this guy has HC written all over him someday. You can't find a Patriots fan who isn't appreciative of all the little things he did to help make his team better.

You gotta love it when nice guys are actually valued and appreciated by an organization and the fans.

Lay low for a few years and then come back and coach. Just like O-T-I-S. Thanks Don.

If this is true, let me be the first to say...THANK YOU Don Davis!!

Mike has it too with a quote from Don.

Don Davis retires

Linebacker Don Davis, who played for the Patriots from 2003-2006, has decided to retire.

"I sent in my papers the other day, I am retiring officially from the National Football League," he said on Sunday afternoon.

The 34-year-old Davis played 11 seasons, entering the league as a rookie free agent out of Kansas.

With the Patriots, Davis made his greatest impact on special teams. In 2006, he was placed on injured reserve with a knee injury Dec. 9. His contract had expired after the season.

Thank you for the years of service Don - the consumate professional doing whatever to help the team; Linebacker, Safety and Special Teams.

Now go enjoy your AARP card. :D

Thanks Don never forget the Image of you running on to the field for warm ups as a DE back running in the same line as Troy. Hope your leg has healed.

I remember when he got a kind of summer internship with the team as an assistant conditioning coach. Had lots of good things to say about BB as a coaching model and really appreciated the opportunity. A very classy guy, I wish him all the best in his next career.

i remember reading an article about him contemplating suicide when going through a rough time
he was able to get through it and turn his life around into a solid nfl career
i always felt like he was a great guy, and as u all said here he was always more than willing to sacrifice everything for the better of the team, well wishes in ur life after football don

Thanks Don! Classy guy and great teammate.
