Dropped passes are not a new phenomenon in New England

I just heard Adam Jones interview Ben Volin on 98.5 just now. Volin brought up a good point. Although the Pats are currently first in the league in dropped passes with 23, they were also first in the league at this point last year with 18.

Granted the Pats' offense was still worlds better last year at this point, but the drops were an issue last year as they are this year.

Maybe the jugs machine broke down before last season and Kraft has been too cheap to get a new one.

People seem to be forgetting, the drops numbers have been heavily influenced by the storm at the end of the Bengals game, when Brady couldn't even grip the ball, much less could the receivers catch his wobblers.

I've seen a number of "drops" this year that resulted from poor throws from Brady. Basically, every Edelman drop has come from just that - some low pass under the middle that he had to stop and reach back for and wasn't able to corral.

Thompkins and Dobson have certainly had their issues with drops, but the main reason Brady went outside so much more than in the past this year so far in the first place was the absence of Gronkowski and the loss of Murdernandez.

I don't think thats a good enough excuse based on the targets. Dobson caught every catch-able ball thrown his way. Kenbrell had targets that hit the dirt, Edleman caugh some really tough balls. The fact that he was throwing to Gronk in triple coverage despite the WR playing good says that brady was over compensating. Its the same thing he did when welker was here that stunted everyone else. He locks on a favorite and it hurts those around. We might see great stats, but team wise its easy to counter by opposing defenses..

I think we may have been watching 2 different games, chasa.

Thompkins once again dropped 2 more passes, and Dobson made 2 huge drops last week himself. On top of that Dobson ran the wrong route on the back shoulder throw that should have been a huge, potentially game winning drive in OT, and Thompkins ran a terribly sloppy route on the sideline pass thrown to him where he rounded it off like a high schooler.

These 2 rookies may be progressing, but they also have a long way to go too. They drop passes in each and every game, run the wrong routes, and perform sloppily at many key moments.

With Gronk back now, we need to take advantage of him, Edelman, and Ridley as three experienced players who we can lean on while the new guys of Collie, Thompkins, and Dobson are continued to be blended in. I don't blame Brady as much as some others for ALL of those 17 targets to Gronk. There were a couple/few that could have won the game. It's difficult to keep wasting precious drives when you know there's a good chance that the rookies are going to either run a poor route (if it's even the correct one), and if they do there's a rather high percentage that they are going to flat out drop the football.

With Gronk back now, we need to take advantage of him

Take Advantage of, is much different then lock on, and only throw to. The dobson shoulder throw when he didn't stick and come back to the ball was rough, but lets talk about brady under throwing gronk twice, throwing an awful pick when targeting gronk early in the third and that still leaves 6 more incomplete targets to gronk. And someone probably told brady hey stop zeroing in on just gronk and that resulted in brady trying to force a throw or two to someone else when gronk might have been a better target.

This game falls on bradys shoulders, his play was very subpar.

Brady missed Rob, and it was showing too much in that game. No doubt he needs to go back to spreading the ball around. Any chance Amendola returns against the phish?

The receivers have been dropping the ball all season. It wasn't just the storm in Cincy. Even Gronk had his share of drops this past Sunday. If the receivers can hold onto the ball, Brady's completion percentage and TD's go up in a big way and nobody is wondering if #12 is declining. As it stands, we have rookies that are either running the wrong option routes or rounding off said routes, which are contributing to the drops in a big way.
