I like the idea but I'm sure he'd be clueless as to where he's supposed to run his routes.

Talented but troubled. If we could get him for a 5th or lower it'd be good value. Anything higher would be too much imo. It's difficult because you'd also have to consider how long it'd take for him to grasp the playbook and get on the same page as Brady.

And if any trades are to be made I'd rather look for a DT or DB. I'd also consider looking to see if a decent coverage linebacker was available.

Would rather a trade for a defensive player

after looking over the rosters of the "bottom dwellers" Davis came to mind. He has been productive. In the last year of his contract and been plagued by a bad ankle most of the season. I wouldn't go any higher then a 6th. Could give the Pats some type of resemblance of a 2 TE set again.

Two TEs are better than one right?

What are peoples views on him.

Thought this tweet was interesting:

I think he would be an excellent pickup, he could replace Hernandez on the football field and in the hood..

Seriously though he would be great in the Hernandez flex role if he could keep his nose clean.

need some OL and DL help before another TE.

really does depend what they want. As someone said a 5th would be a good deal. 1

Davis' best is exceptional. If the Patriots can get him for a late round pick then sure. Still, DT/NT and CE seems to be a bigger issue atm than TE.

Why on earth would anyone give up a 5th rounder for a guy who we won't control for more than 9 games? The guy has been nothing but trouble.

I wouldn't even want him on the team nevermind trade for him.

He hasn't been anything but garbage since tearing his Achilles last season.

Pass.

They are willing to trade this mess because they drafted Hernandez2.0 without the "Hernandez." Jordan Reed is breaking out, lucky SOBs.

Yeah..jordan reed is a beast.. .BB used to be the man in drafting TE's. We would draft 3 and sign a few udfa TE every year!....now he has whiffed in a bunch of TE on draft day since Gronk and "the criminal"....back to Davis...he was great the first two years on skins...but he had a high ankle sprain that really slowed him down...then the achilles injury did him in....he's a shadow if his former self right now I'm afraid...

I wonder if Hernandez got arrested before the draft of Jordan Reed would have been an option for us? Both are very similar players that happen to be from CT.

The answer is yes.
