World Series - Red Sox vs Cardinals

What a great season and postseason so far. GREAT chemistry on this team - - and it starts with the manager - - a truly well-adjusted adult, as opposed to the egotistical sociopath who had the job last year.

So many great storylines on the Sox this year, from Victorino, to Breslow, to LaserShow, to Koji, to Papi to young Bogaerts. It's really fun watching them battle against superior talent and just wear the other team down.

I love it go sox...and I think the pats make it to the SB every time the red sox do at lest the last 10 years I could be wrong

Starting to come around on the Red Sox. Used to hate them for just trying to buy championships and always living in the shadow of the Yankees (kind of like the Jets to the Patriots), but it seems like their personality has really changed. I didn't care when they won in 2004 or 2007, but it could be different this time.

Beezeboll ... Bankofamericasox ... :yawn2: :yawn2:

Oh please tell us how much you don't care. You are so cool.

If it's so horrible then don't look.

i can only take so many finals losses....

after the bruins collapse i need the Sox to win this

C'mon, Sox! Win it for ALP!

Re: World Series Red Sox vs Cardinals

OUT Detroit's pitching staff IN St.Louis' pitching staff. If the Sox win the World Series, they will have despatched the Rays, Tigers and Cardinals. That is some pitching line up.

After 2 disastrous seasons, that is one way to say were back!

gosox! cards are tough tho

1986 - Sox make series, lose/Celtics win championship/Pats get steamrolled by the Bears and the fridge
2004 - Pats win/Sox win
2007 - Sox win, we won't mention the super bowl
2013 - Bruins lose/ the rest yet TBD , be nice to see two champions again

I am happy everytime a team from Boston wins a game
GO SOX
GO BRUINS
GO CELTICS
GO PATS :rocker::rocker::rocker::rocker::rocker:

I wonder how low the odds would be though? That'd be my only concern.

While it would make for some great history (as long as someone won of course, seeing all 3 go and lose would be devastating) it seems that it'd have a pretty low chance of happening.

That's my Debbie Downer post of the evening

So, the maybe the odds are actually better than I had thought? ;)

I think I was looking at the '85 season instead of viewing it in a calendar year of 1986. In that case, all 3 of the Sox, Pats, and Celts made it to championship seasons.

Of course any potential SB would be played in Feb.'14, so we could start the whole discussion over again :rocker:

The Metropolitans may be the better NYC club.

So this would be the 1946 and 1967 revenge tour?

Detroit? Fielder and Cabrera can't be a coincidence.

Now how did the Tigers not win with great base runners like Prince Fielder?

What an athlete. He looked like he just wanted to curl up in comfy chair in his fancy media room with a big ol bag of potato chips that whole series.

(That was a GREAT instinctive play by Pedroia by the way).

Seriously, how can you NOT love this team? They are a far cry from the boring and monotonous players that are currently in the league. Whether it's Gomes, Napoli, Victorino, Papi, etc. they wear their hearts on their sleeves.

This team all along has reminded me of the 2001 Patriots, the grit and the way they do the little things right. Bogaerts has the cool of a young Tom Brady — dude just turned 21, has been with the big team only since late August, and he never flinches while drawing that 3-2 walk to help set up the grand slam (in part by upping Scherzer's pitch count). I'd say Uehara is pretty cool too. (As an aside, beautifully smooth strikeout swings apparently run in the Drew family).

Celtics will win the draft lottery, getting Wiggins would be sort of like winning the title.

IIRC, the Celtics haven't had much luck in draft lotteries.

This team is soooo different than the typical Red Sox team from the past. They still have some hitters with pop to be sure, but the pitching, base running and defensive savvy are nice to behold.

The phrase "rich people's problems" comes to mind.

So this would be the 1946 and 1967 revenge tour?

I think that's kind of what happened in 2004. :) Cards will be tough. Was rooting for a Dodgers-Red Sox World Series. Two GREAT franchises, and the story lines after that trade last year would have been awesome.

Re: World Series Red Sox vs Cardinals

Cardinals are unfamiliar, but in the next couple of days will probably become an expert, if I stay away from talk radio...

Looking forward to another world series.. John Farrell definitely manager of the year, Cherrington Executive of the year. From 69 wins in '12 to 104 wins so far in '13 is very remarkable.. 4 more to go folks, then bring out the duckboats..

Bruins to the Stanley Cup finals
Red Sox to the World Series

We need the Patriots to get to the Super Bowl, because there's no way in hell the Celtics are getting to the NBA finals without a string of miracles and a devastating league-wide rash of injuries.

Homer!

Congrats to the Sox!

Still can't watch baseball but it's great to have the Sox in the series!

As somebody wrote, they look like barnstorming Mennonities...
Best tweet I saw was,
" Bobby Valentine promised that if the Red Sox hired him, they'd be in the World Series within 2 years..Looks like he was right."

Koji (≧∇≦)

Most likeable team since 2004. How can a football fan not love a baseball team that grinds, scrapes and hustles like this one?
