What about extending a younger player early?

What about extending a younger player early?

The only realistic candidate for that would be Wilson, and I think the Pats want to see something more out of him before giving him an extension.

Why wouldn't Warren, quite early, be viable?

I would love to see Donnie Edwards. with a LB core of Vrabel, Colvin, Thomas, Edwards, Bruschi

Then focus on the draft on secondary. I have a gut feeling they are going OT with one of their first round choices.

I think we see Seau back... last year he wanted to play a full season for $1M, and I think he wants more... at that price, it is okay if they get injury-punctuated production from him, but he doesn't count as a full timer (but as part of a rotation.)

Trade for Edwards. Definitely. I still say he will be in silver and blue in 2007.

And it's "linebacking corps," not "linebacking core." Similarly there is no Marine Core.

Dabnabbit.

Somehow I don't think BB and co are done with FA yet?
Anyone you think they may be still after

I still want Nap Harris/Takeo Spikes for an ILB rotation vet and Donnie Edwards to take Don Davis' spot coverage LB position.

I'd like them to resign TBC too. He is great depth and a spot starter a la` Jarvis Green.

Is TKO on the market? He would be a perfect BB signing.

Not necessarily....if he was referring to the "core" group of players, they he is correct. I believe we will carry more than 5 LB's. The 5 he mentioned would make up the "core" of our LB "corps"

Sorry....couldn't resist.

And I would also love to see Donnie Edwards....for the right price.

I would love to see Donnie Edwards....The guy is smart football player....

Extend Wilfork and/or Warren now imo.

I can definitely see them adding another veteran LB. Donnie Edwards would be a great addition. Hartwell would be an interesting choice if he came at a low price. Spikes is intriguing as well.

While I"m not an Edwards fan for our system, I too would love to see Harris or Spikes. I have the feeling we'll see another major LB signing, plus maybe a CB.

Conditional statements are usually phrased as "If/Then," rather than "If/They."

Heh.

donnie edwards would be a good fit, but he is supposedly looking for too much money. i wouldnt mind seeing them go after napoleon harris who could come cheap and has all the athletic skills he just hasnt put it together, but he could also become the next beisel

i think the main priority should be extending warren, wilfork and maybe samuel

extend warren or wilford.

Resign Samuel.

Please...

don't get anyone else.

terrible?

Gimme Stallworth,forget Welker

or trade for a WR with a first and try to get a great WR

Gage is big, 6-4 210+. 43 of his 60 career catches moved the sticks; this is fifth best in the NFC in the past 3 seasons for WR's with at least 60 catches. He played in Chicago with an incompetent and clueless QB. He's un UFA with little risk, he wouldn't garner a huge contract. I'd sign him and see what he can do, he's at the point in his career where he could break out.

Actually...i like your idea best!

I would think $6M is needed to cover:
rookies
PUP and IR
Player 52 and 53
Practice Squad
Injury Reserve to replace players during the season
======================================
None of this is needed until the week before the season starts, and a restructuring or two or three will cover the $6M (Light, Colvin, and Brady come to mind).
======================================
We have plenty of cap room to sign anyone we want. Also, I don't expect Samuel to be on the roster for Game One at $8M. I expect him to extend or be traded.

There abouts, yes.[/QUOTE
