Before you tell me how that hit was illegal and blaming Amendola is dumb, let me just say this – I don’t care! One of the things that made Wes Welker a great player was his intelligence and the wherewithal to protect himself from taking those type of hits, Amendola ran 100 MPH and it was as idiotic as throwing a glass against the concrete along with having a similar result. My excuses for Danny Amendola have flown south with the birds, he is never going to contribute to this offense consistently because he is never going to be on the field and when he is it is going to be like weeks 1, 5 and 6 where he is out there but far less than 100% and we as fans are just sitting in our seats waiting for the next shoe to drop.

He is a talented player and it is a damn shame, but at 28 years old I think it is time to accept that he is what he is and that is a player who you cannot center an offense around or even be made a key piece to an offense because his is going to give 8-10 games per year on average and 3-5 of those will be played at less than 100%.

Now this, I agree with you on.

I like the kid, he's tough and wants to be out there but he's just very injury prone and it sucks.

How do you propose Amendola should next handle a situation where a defender launches at him with his helmet?

Can't argue there. He's played exactly one effective game thus far this season and even that one he missed important drives. Looks like he'll be out a few more at least, eventually you just have to accept the fact that the guy isn't built for the position.

Hope that the contract is escapable and we can go hard after Sanders or someone this offseason with his $$.

Pop in some game tape of the things Welker did over the past 6 years, Amendola could have done any number of those things.

That's not a sufficient answer. Amendola was low. I can't recall who the Saints defender was but he lead at Amendola with his helmet. There is nothing Amendola could do to defend himself in that situation.

This thread is ridiculous. It was a helmet-to-helmet hit perpetrated by the defender. Is Amendola supposed to be concussion-proof? :bricks:

I just popped in some game tape and this is what I found:

Welker also missed the remainder of the game but that was before concussion test and I believe he played the next game.

Stupid thread is stupid.

It's true DA can't control what defenders do but he can decide how he's going to play it. It's tough because while he did go all out for that first down which I really admire and appreciate, you do open yourself up for those type injuries when you throw caution to the wind. He could have just as easily not lowered his head there. Then again you can get hurt a thousand different ways on any play so who knows. I hope he recovers quickly.

The patriots centered their offense around a player who had injury problems dating back to highschool and a player who has had legal troubles dating back to his youth....and yet the patriots are 5-1.

As long as amendola contributes something during the post season everything will be fine.

Gronk arm shattering into a million pieces after contact is more concerning than amendola getting some random freak injury(AND STILL PLAYS THROUGH IT).

Gronk is a high contact tight end who's more brittle than sheetrock.
Amendola is a receiver that has to learn to give him self up on plays.

Gronk at 75% is virtually useless
amendola at 75% is still very productive

I was waiting for somebody to imply that the Pats should have seen this concussion coming because if his previous injuries. Based on how effed up my knees are, I better wear a helmet everywhere from now on.

[[BEST]] Wes Welker Jacked up by Ryan Clark of the Steelers (11-30-08) - YouTube

Stupid, stupid thread? My man you just posted a freaking video from 2008 to support that belief, also that hit on Welker was a cheap shot, illegal play on a defenseless player trying to make a catch, Amendola had the ball and was running, he was not defenseless, the hit he took was not illegal, it was not cheap and was not nearly as vicious.

This response was an utter failure, please try again! FYI I wouldn’t respond like a **** except you felt compelled to refer to what I wrote as stupid and in reality your post is levels stupider.

Can he slide?
I'm sure he could. Still, if he begins his slide, he's still susceptible to being hit in the head when the defender leads with his helmet.

The fact of the matter is he can't stay on the field. Meanwhile, welker is on pace to make a run as moss' td record. Heck, even kraft sound like he had regrets in his espn ny interview.

It's like you want Amendola to be injured just so you could say you were right. Pathetic man, real pathetic.

Have to say Brady 6, I admire your courage in making these threads. At least you have the balls to be steadfast in your opinion.

Give me a break Sciz, the concussion is responsible for his missing 17 minutes of game action this season, he still either missed or was on the field at much less than 100% for the other 343 minutes of football this team has played this year. The hit is a moot point, Amendola has been injured all year before leaving yesterday’s game he had 2 catches for 0 yards, on the season he has been targeted 27 times resulting in 15 reception for 159 yards and 0 touchdowns. Julian Edelman has outplayed him all season, heck Austin Collie outplayed him yesterday and lets not even get into the guy he was brought in to replace because that guy has 8 touchdowns this season already which is 1 more touchdown then Amendola has in his career.

I really don’t understand how you can sit here and act as if Amendola has done anything to show he is worth $5 mil a year, you’d have to be lying to yourself.

Hysterical...in more ways than one.

Nothing but facts here. Cant be more clear than that.
