are they sitting back, laying in the weeds to try and outdazzle Belioli? :singing: These guys are supposedly the genuises of all genuises....whats going on there in the meadowlands?

Right now they seem to not be up to much.

I wouldn't be surprised if they've called Dillon, though, he and Leon Washigton could be a decent pair.

Simple, they are going to give Gay a contract the Pats cannot match, the Pats are going to take their 2nd round pick and draft someone better than Gay.

Bascially the Pats get Welker and a higher #2 for Gay and #60.

whatever it is the new york media will label it as "pure genius"

Doing what Belioli have been doing the last few years?

They are talking to Dillon I heard. As said elsewhere, they're probably going to offer Gay.

Why the fuss? If it was the Pats, half here would be crying because everybody else was buying the high priced guys and the other half would be telling people to chill because the Pats aren't fast starters. The J E T S suck suck suck have more holes to fill than the Pats if I recall. The Jets need DB, DL, OL, & RB help - the OL, DL, and DB need more then one layer of depth. I'm sure they'd like another WR too, and they probably feel that third QB carries more weight due to plastic Chad. Reportedly they were hinting that Vilma might be marketable, this may suggest they are also looking at LB depth. Since they lost $3mil per AdamJT13's report, they probably don't feel they can get into a bidding war for the Thomases and Clements. We'll get to see if they can be as effective shopping the bargin bin as the big boys in Foxborough.

Tannenbaum and Mangini are figuring out how to get Turner without giving up a 1st and 3rd for him.

Mangini's going to be up to about 300 if he doesn't lay off the snacks.

Jees guys its just DAY TWO of Free Agency. We have no idea what final rosters are going to be. This is the first time we've participated THIS early in the game. Even the Colvin deal came in the second week of FA. Tangini will have plenty of time to make both hits and misses.

BTW if they tendered Gay for a second, I be thrilled. I think they can get a better CB prospect than Gay if they have 3 picks again in the first 2 rounds

he looks like he cant get enough Krispy Kreme donuts and lil debbie snack cakes, the fat copycat....

What does the interest in Welker say about the return of Troy Brown? I for one would be very bummed out if Troy goes out without a bang, but a whimper.

Whoops - I put this in the wrong thread!! Sorry!

The problem might be (emphasize might) that last year, with the glut of new CBA money, the start of free agency was exceptionally busy.

In past years, once the initial FA feeding frenzy was over you had something like 200-250 players left over - lots of quality players available for bargain basement prices... this is how BB rebuilt the Patriots on limited cap space.

Last year after the initial feeding frenzy there were just 100 free agents still available - and most of them weren't even worth minimum salaries.

I don't think it will be that bad this year (only half the teams have significant salary cap space compared to nearly all last year) but it could be, and the bottom line is the same... until the salaries fully catch up with the new glut of CBA cap space, one can't bank on finding quality or quantity in the "leftovers" of free agency.

Mangini is taking a risk, no doubt.

Why this morbid interest in the Jets?

Reminds me of some of the Sox fans who always need to read and comment about the Yankees. To an extent I can understand those Sox fans because there was only one year in the last 80+ years when the Sox lived up to their hopes; so they always need to mock and sneer the Yankees who continue to be better than them.

Isn't the situation reverse for us?

The Pats-Jets rivalry has been renewed because of the Mangini sitiation. Patirots fans will always have an interest in them because Mangini is supposed to be Belichick Jr. and will make the Jets a legitimate threat to the Pats.

Plus we hate all New York teams.

I share the opinion of a few other posts (on other threads that involve the Jets) that succiently summarized that the Jets will not be a threat to us.

I am more worried about why we keep doing poorly against the Fins' (who BTW might sign Porter) as opposed to wondering why Mangini is twiddling his thumbs.

I just don't want to give any importance to the Jets and hope we continue to dominate them. Since I live in their neck of the woods and get crushed in the trains a bit more heavily when I wear my Pats cap, I am happy to consider them as just another opponent and nothing more.

I am eagerly looking to see how we would fare against the Colts, Chargers and the Broncos.

We'll start to do better against the Fins when Jason Taylor retires.

Great signing in Adalius Thomas, i am pissed you guys got him. I had my day to grieve yesterday and now im looking ahead to the free agent class. As a Jets and Yankees fan, I find it comical the comparisons of NY has Jeter, Boston has Brady. The Jets r similar to the Red Sox (before 04) of the NFL. Although I want us to, I dont think we will be picking up Joey Porter. Instead we should maintain a healthy cap, lock up young core players like Cotchery(already locked up) and Rhodes. We are maybe 2 years away from being a contender. Tangini just needs to keep up the gameplan of strong drafts and maybe next year or the year after we will be making th push for the "miss link" or perceive final centerpiece. I still hate you guys more then ever, but respect Brady and co.(excluding a select few.....you could probably guess who). See you on the field in '07

Apparently Mangenious felt it more important to go to Kansas City to pick up some Coach of the Year award than be in his office for the first couple of days of free agency. He missed the Senior Bowl cause he was "burned out" and now this? If he is trying to emulate BB, he is doing a very bad job.

I think he is trying to be the next eric mangini. All coaches dont show up for the senoir bowl. I wonder why the jets employ tanennbaum, its obviously mangini's job solely to consult w/ free agents
