He seems pretty much perfect for New England. Would the Patriots reach and grab a late-second round projection at #28?

I'd have no problem going Gonzalez & Harris in the First.

Interesting, I have been saying No, No, No to Harris. Now I will say maybe.

Looking at the board I see better value at CB than reaching for Harris, but he did open some eyes at the combine.

Now #32

NFL Draft Scout has him listed at 67.

I'm am almost willing to bet that they trade the #28 pick to stockpile picks for the future. Perhaps a #2 this year and maybe a #2 next year?

If the Pats wind up collecting Welker, then sitting tight at 24 & 28 gives them the option to pick over their entire first day board. I'd rate Bradley ahead of Harris for versatility if it comes to that, but Harris is a good choice I'd have no kick with. Morris' signing pretty much takes Leonard off the table as far as I can see, with Welker onboard Gonzo isn't a priority either, but he & Leonard may be a nice to haves.

If we get Welker, I think you can eliminate WR from the first round.

One of the CB and Harris, that I could see.

Why? Who's our number one receiver in 2008? Probably not anybody on the roster, including Welker.

Trade down from 28 into the 2nd and get your LB (Stewart Bradley, David Harris or Zak DeOssie). Get a 2nd rounder for next year. :D

We'll have spent our #2 on Welker, we aren't spending a #1 and a #2 on a WR. I practically guarantee it; although nothing's for sure with the Patriots ;)

Who's the #1 WR in 2008 ? Who knows. We don't know if they'll re-sign Caldwell or Gaffney. But if Jackson is healthy for Training Camp I could see him and Welker being the two starters in 2008 (not saying 2007).

Me too. I really want Gonzo.

I have been contemplating this for awhile now, after watching the LB portion of the combine 3 or 4 times, I have decided that I wouldn't mind Harris in the 1st round. I think it isn't that bad of an idea. If Nelson is there at 24, we nab him and then take harris at 28. That, coupled with one, maybe two more LB prospects (deossie possibly one of them, maybe Tim Shaw), would make me one happy guy.

While no one should ever say never when talking about BB and his draft strategies, it's safe to assume that drafting Harris in the first violates many more BB tendencies than it fills.

For example, BB usually do not reach in the first round. BB usually takes 3 down players with the first pick and finally BB rarely plays LBs under the age of 25 in the base defense. Why spend a first on a LB that would have to sit for 3 years until he learns the system.

I was all for Harris at #60 as long as he could contribute on ST. I am a big fan of Harris and the way he plays run defense,, but he's a nightmare in coverage and no scheme is going to hide that.

I still consider DeOssie to be a viable later round alternative. He's raw and a few years on ST could pay great dividends down the road.
