schefter just reported this on the NFL Total Access show....

that sounds like a pretty serious contract (similar to what we offered branch?)

Did we sign Adalius Thomas?

did we sign LeKevin Smith ?

Are you sure he wasn't saying what Thomas got but said Welker by mistake?

Can someone let me know when the Pats franchise Samuel? Thanks.

It's likely that the contract is severely backloaded and there is a poison pill provision in the offer. There could be 18-20 million in the last two years of the contract, which Welker will likely never see (he'll be extended or released before that) but which would become guaranteed if Miami was to match the offer. The contract is probably around 5 years, 18 million or so, which is a good price for a guy like Welker.

I heard we drafted Eugene Chung?

what do you guys think?

no, he was totally talking about welker....he was also saying things like "if only had miami tendered him at the 1.8 mil level, then they could have at least gotten a first rounder"

this is all insanely exciting to be such major players in free agency. getting thomas alone would have made it the best offseason ever.

Forget Girls Gone Wild, it's now BB Gone Wild.

Hey guy, there just messing with you.

A lot of the regulars think their hot sh!t. ;)

Dan - some here are trying to pull your leg but in case you don't catch on real quick we've known about this for some time now. Shefter was reporting this on the web NFL site a while ago.

This just made me burst out laughing.

It's like the moon turned to blue cheese or something. I keep checking overhead for signing of pigs flying, but nothing yet.

That's just crazy. How much did we offer to Deion Branch last year?

38 million sounds a number to #1 receiver. Not a ST player.

I think you are probably right on. I would say Wes, who puts up about 50 yds/g (not one 100 yd game last year, I think game high was about 77 or so and actually did 1 for -1 against the Pats FYI) probably is not going to see more than 3.5 per year. I like this guy for that number.

and I wonder if maybe they see him as being a replacement for troy brown. not the troy brown of now so much as the 2001 troy brown. small, fast, good hands, versatile, tough and will catch over the middle.

still 7 years is absurd it has to be a poison pill
